I always have a voice talking in my head...describing things (what I see, what I'm doing, etc.) explaining things (that I understand very well) in great detail as if explaining some new concept to another person(s)...I've assumed the voice to be my mind talking to itself but I've also always wondered if it was some kind of psychotic feature...What bothers me is that it seems to be like a second person within me speaking to the other...I do respond to what it says, sometimes even a deep coversation or arguement starts. Anybody know if that's abnormal or if it's just me being a dork talking to myself?

so far people seem to think this is abnormal and i should see someone...i should've mentioned this but i thought it make the answers less open...i have been diagnosed as schizoaffective, i do see doctors but i haven't even mentioned this to them yet, the diagnosis was based on other things...i wont see them again for a month and this just came to mind so i was hoping a doctor or someone who has studied this topic could give me an answer without having to wait a month

Chaos,
There is no such thing as normal. Are you otherwise happy? If so, and the voice is not trying to control your behavior, don't worry about it. As long as no one is being harmed, who is to say you are messed up? Some shrink with an addiction to prescription drugs? If the voice bothers you, then you will have to take over, and put it to sleep. If you can't, then your last resort is to go see a mental health practitioner. Good luck there. Most of them are half nuts themselves.

I disagree with anyone who thinks this is crazy or even schizophrenic. Everyone has a voice in their head, my voices range from my own to my mothers to wacky random voices I appear to have made up. We have conversations, they explain things to me, sometimes I laugh at them. The problem starts when the voices become aggressive; telling you to do things you don't want, or telling you illogical or irrational things IE you are God, everyone is against you, your dog is the anti Christ, etc. If that's happening then see a doctor immediately

Perhaps you are not PSYCHOTIC but in fact PSYCHIC...

Have you ever thought that you may possess psychic ability?

Check into it. In fact I will give your voice a test.
