hai i have problems in understanding preposition. for example out of the following questions which are correct
1) i stay at london or i stay in london
2) my exams are on november or my exams are at november
3) the minister is in chennai or the minister is at chennai

For all of the above, "in" is the correct preposition.

Think of it this way: if you enter London, you are within the city limits, so you're "in" London. The same is true for Chennai. November is a big box on the calendar; the date is within that box, so it's "in" November.

"At" is usually with a point in time or a specific place. For example, "My exams are on November the 14th, at 2:00 in the afternoon."

Stay in London is correct. At implies some specific place like stay at the Hilton in London.

Neither one in 2). My exams are in November, if you're talking about the month, or My exams are on November 13th, if you're talking about a specific day in November.

The minister is in Chennai, assuming that Chennai is the name of some town. If Chennai means some ritual or other, then in chennai would be correct.
