No. My sister got her first job as a delivery person she didnt care about the minimun wage she was getting but she was so excited every day about the tips she got and even remembered every house who gave her what amount of tip. It means a lot for the them just think of it as you're making someones day :d

You're not crazy at all. You should always tip according to how well you were served. If you had exceptionally good service, by all means tip well, 15 percent or more. I always tip more than 15 percent when I have good service. If the server obviously meant well, but screwed up, I still give them a good tip. It's the rude ones or the uncaring ones that only get the 15 percent, and sometimes even less if they're really bad!

No, if you feel that the person did a great job and provided excellent service, than tip them what you want. I understand what you mean about many people living off tips, that kind of living can be hard, so its great that you feel a desire to tip more than the standard percentage.

Gratuity is also a tip "Tip" is an acronym for "to insure promptness." So if that person did well, then tip them well. If the service was poor, tip them poorly or not at all. But never feel guilty for over tipping, it is a blessing for anyone that had to earn a wages plus tip income

They don't all live off just the tips as you think. But it doesn't hurt to over tip. People will remeber you a lot better when you go to the establishment that they work in. And it's nice to have money to burn.

Well it all depends on the service,if you think they are worthy of a large tip than do so,otherwise the standard rate. When i was in boston usa the ppl there were very worthy of a good tip but places like miami no they are too greedy.

if ALL your friends think you are crazy - u probably are!

What is wrong with crazy! i have special affection for the crazy ones! There is a film about great american filmmaker John Cassavettes called "I'm Almost Not Crazy" < ithe title is referring to some comment JC made about who are the people who are most interesting in life from his point of view! AND BABY, he was no slouch in his point of view!

I don't feel bad for them, but I am a generous tipper too. They pretty much live off their tips. You are not crazy, just kind. Which actually in this world is probably kinda crazy...

Kuddos to you! The % rule is simply a guideline, and not a hard, fast rule. It's not crazy to leave a large tip to someone, on the contrary, it is a generous gesture to show your appreciation for their services.

Sherry, great question!
I most always tip well. I do not consider the % most people tip, adequate. Most times it's an insult. As well, when I tip, I do not do it because I look down on them (as many people do), but because I truly appreciate that hard, underpaid, unrecognized, job or service that they perform! So, my generous friend, keep on tipping as long as you can.
Stay well!
