In the 50's and 60' people wanted white eggs because they were posher. Then they wanted brown eggs because as brown bread get more popular someone started a rumour that brown eggs had more vitamins in.
White hens such as the Light Sussex lay white eggs, and brown hens lay brown eggs. It has nothing to do with the country or the feed.
Improved feed can lead to an improved quality of yolk; but commercial feed manufacturers also add dye to the feed to make the yolk more or less orange. But it doesn't affect the shell.
If there is a fad or preference for white eggs, producers will switch to white feathered birds to supply the demand; and vice versa.

I don't think that the country has anything to do with the color of the egg. Different chickens lay different colored eggs. There are many different breeds of chickens. There is a breed of chicken that have been nicknamed "Easter Egg" chicken because they lay green or blue colored eggs. The inside of the egg is just the same -- it is the outside shell that is a different color. Leghorns lay white eggs -- Rhode Island Reds lay brown eggs. I know this because I raise chickens and sell eggs. Hope this helps!

This is because both white and brown eggs came from two different types of chicken. It's the species not the countries.

Different feed and different breeds of chickens. I used to have chickens when I was a kid and we fed them all the same food yet some layed brown eggs, some white, some even layed blue eggs.

Perhaps the chicken are fed different foods--the eggshells absorb the minerals in the chicken's diet. Also, you may be looking at eggs from different breeds of chickens. Each breed has different eggs, and within each breed, there is a wide variance of egg colors.

There are white eggs contained in the united kingdom. the adaptation contained in the color relies upon on the breed, the most many times used for commercial manufacturers is the brown egg layer. there became a false impression that brown eggs were extra healthful, regardless of the indisputable fact that that's what's interior that counts no longer the color of the shell..

it ahs nothing to do with countries. it has everything to do with the chickens.
The colour of a chicken's ear lobe tells the colour of it's egg shell.
brown - borwn, white- white etc.
Different countries may export different coloured shell eggs mainly because they jsut happen to rear more of one type of chicken in that country.
Eg. in asia, the borwn shelled egg is more common because of the type of chicken we rear
