Yes, I had a child, who then had two children and her children will hopefully have children and so on. My little contribution to the future.

Everything we do has a consequence, and that consequence changes the course of events later in complex ways. As an example, (I don't know this is real, but making a point) if Jonas Salk's great- great- great- great- great- great- great- great(assuming age 20 per generation) grandfather was a beggar on the street, would his life matter 200years later? Yes because without his life, we would not have had the man who gave us the polio vaccine. Your life will matter also because of the effect you have on others. Maybe you help a couple stay together and they produce descendants that bring world peace, or world war. You didn't specify that matter had to mean good. Maybe, you help someone get off of drugs and they become a speaker who helps others. Affecting other peoples lives is an exponential process. Chaos theory in science says the same thing. So does the Bible. Look at the life of Christ, he was 2000 years ago, and even non-believers would be hard pressed to defend the position that his life didn't matter.(BTW we do have historical nonreligious proof of Jesus' existence, and no not the Shroud of Turin, a Roman historian. This is proof of the basic fact of his existence, not that he was the son of God.)

Yes,I have been in on the construction of several large scale projects that will still be around in 200 years, I have had children that will have children....... Everything you do has a direct affect on everything that happens after that,so in a sense you could say that everthing I do will have some small affect on the world in 200 years.

The decision you make now can affect the future generations. Yes we will be held accountable for our own actions; whether they be good or bad. If you have traditions, some of these may have been around for over 100 years.

Mozart was born 250 years ago and the music he left us certainly matters today.

Only the Love that you have shown will have any lasting positive effect. We often never see the effect of a loving response. It can have a domino effect that spreads in ways we could never envision.
