If you were born left-handed, did your parents try to change you? How do you feel about it now?

My husband was born left handed and some people tried to change it. Now he is ambidextrous, so perhaps it worked out for him in the end. Some things he does right handed, like golf and shoot, but he still writes left-handed. Having a stronger left arm on a right handed gold swing is actually good- the man can really drive the ball!
I don't think my husband has any ill feelings that people tried to change him, like I said it worked out for him anyway.
I can't explain it, but I think it's sexy that he's left-handed....
I am right handed, but have taught myself to write with my left hand... can't really give you a good reason why, I just have.

I am right handed as is most of my familt. My husband is left handed. Two of our children are right handed and the thrid would probably have been but he has cerebral palsey that affects just his right side so he has no choice but to be left handed. Usually genetics choose what hand you are but back in the day when my husband was a child the teachers forced him to behave as though he was right handed. As a result, for some things, he has become ambidextrous. So environment can play a part.

I'm mostly left-handed, although everything sports related is right handed. My 3 year old is also left-handed, and she is completely left-handed.

No one ever tried to change me to using my right hand. My kindergarten teacher was also left-handed and she taught me how to write like a right-handed person instead of how most left-handed people write, so that I didn't get teased.

I love being a lefty! The cool part about being left-handed is the right side of the brain controls our bodies, so at least we can say that we're always in our right minds :)

I am right handed. No my parents didn't try to change that. I know that my cousin's wife purposely tried to make her kids right handed. She would put toys, everything she handed them into their right hand. I think they ended up right handed or ambidextrous because of it.

I'm a little of both. I do eat and write left-handed. My grandmother wanted my mom to tie my hand behind my back (she did not). I remember her trying to get me to use my right hand and telling me that it is more appropriate and shaming me a bit when I would use my left hand. It was very uncomfortable for me. I kick with my right foot, throw a ball and cut with scissors with my right hand, play guitar left handed, tie my shoes left handed, and can swing a baseball bat with both hands. This drove my grandmother nuts! I'm a freak!

I'm a righty, but do somethings with my left hand. My brother eats with his left but everything else with his right, and yes my dad has tried to get him just to use his right hand for eating. He seems to be fine. And my other brother is a pure lefty, and my parents never tried to change him.

i exploit my left hand to jot down, my top hand to diminish foodstuff with knives or paper with scissors, i dribble a basketball with my top hand a lot less puzzling than left, yet shoot left-exceeded. I also bat in softball left-exceeded, so i guess i'm ambidextrous
