particular they do. do not enable any ideologies with their very own agendas fool you. a actuality from the ACLU itself. "Given the relationship with "a properly regulated military" and "the protection of a loose State," the ACLU has lengthy taken the area that the 2d change protects a collective excellent really than someone excellent. For seven many years, the preferrred courtroom's 1939 selection in u . s . a . v. Miller changed into significantly understood to have counseled that view. The preferrred courtroom has now ruled otherwise. In astonishing down Washington D.C.'s handgun ban by using a 5-4 vote, the preferrred courtroom's 2008 selection in D.C. v. Heller held for the first time that the 2d change protects someone's excellent to save and undergo fingers, even if linked with a state military. The ACLU disagrees with the preferrred courtroom's end about the nature of the right secure by using the 2d change. we do not, although, take a position on gun administration itself. In our view, neither the possession of guns nor the regulation of guns will develop a civil liberties difficulty."

I don't think the problems with the ACLU are one sided. I think they are just merely promoting what civil liberties can get them the most publicity.
The ACLU is generally funded by private donations and memberships. And they make a LOT of money by memberships.
I am a member. I don't have so much trouble with what the ACLU does as I have with what they can't do.
They are supposed to defend civil liberties. But what they don't do is defend civil liberties of poor people or people of color or people who don't generate a lot of publicity for them.
They only take cases which generate a LOT of media coverage. And that is where I have problems with them.
The ACLU actually defended the Neo-Nazi's in Skokie Illinois in the mid 70's.
As for your case in point, the child in Missouri, the ACLU doesn't DEFEND people. It represents people who have ASKED the ACLU to intervene.
The format for asking the ACLU to intervene in a breach of civil liberties is very straightforward. You have to write them, specifically state which one of your civil liberties has been violated and enumerate the rights from the Bill of Rights which have been violated and wait for them to call.
It is an easy thing to accomplish. But if you don't write them, the ACLU isn't going to get involved. If you call them up on the phone, the ACLU will still tell you that you have to write them and enumerate in your letter which of the amendments in the Bill of Rights has been violated.
The ACLU always generates publicity. That is where I have problems with them.
But if you don't ASK them to intervene in a violation of civil rights, they won't intervene.

Look up the history. The ACLU was actually founded to promote communism in the US in the early days of the last century. This is not a joke, read the quotes of the founder, it is shocking!

Yeah I don't get it either. It Makes no sense to me some of the things they defend.. But neither does sniffing paint but some do it... and I bet the ACLU would defind their right to do it, but only if they are a petifile with a "god is dead" t shirt on.

The ACLU is comprised of attorneys who are looking to establish themselves to further their careers. They, like any litigious group, pick and choose the lawsuits which will best define their career and political objectives.
One, ok WE, could easily sue the ACLU in their support of atheism...but it seems not politically correct to do so as they (we) would be labled as "anti-liberty" and thus anti-american.

You need to educate yourself about how the ACLU works. You are getting only one side of the story. Please form your opinion after being fully educated, not jumping to conclusions. I fund the ACLU, because I am one amoung millions of members of that organization.
