I don't know whether it's a rebelion against catholisim, or the use of cerimony in both religions. Why does this happen?

Is Catholicism popular in your area? It is in mine and most of the Wiccans come from there. But there are connections between Catholicism and Paganism... one example... St Brigit... is a goddess in Paganism... was long before the Catholic church was established... And oddly enough, the Catholic story for her is almost identical to the Pagan one with the exception that the Church claims she was a Catholic. While the Celtic story shows her to be a goddess linked to healing.

The connection that you will find is that of poor catechesis. If you talk to ex-Catholics, you will find that 99.9 percent of the time they were not taught much or only a rudimentary notion of Catholicism. It is as simple as that.

Especially Wiccans and other "New Agers". Wiccan etc. is very shallow when compared to the spirituality of Catholicism. I know you do not believe me, but that is because you have never taken the time to read Catholic Spirituality.

Let me suggest that you check out these books (there is plenty more where this came from)

No it’s not rebellion.

I was brought up catholic too.

We have simply heard so much nonsense we have become completely gullible.

In effect, we will fall for anything.

Rather than Wicca I suggest the course in miracles. It is the antidote to all of the lies that have ever been made up by religion. Read it yourself; don't listen to what the frightened religious types say about it. The truth can get scary to someone who believes in a judgmental punishing Small g god.

Yes, both reject the basic principles of Christianity - that we are all sinners in desperate need of salvation and that we cannot save ourselves, that only through Jesus Christ and His complete sacrifice at the cross can we be saved.

While there are some Catholic Christians, most do not believe in the complete sacrifice of Christ at the cross and therefore are not saved. Their unbelief is proven by the fact that they sacrifice Him over and over upon the altar of their mass.

The Bible says that we are all sinners and that we have all fallen short of the glory of God. The Bible also says that God sent Jesus Christ His only Son to die on the cross in full payment of our sins. Those who reject His payment will have to in effect pay for their own sins and the penalty is eternal death and everlasting destruction. This is why our Savior Jesus died in our place.

If you have not done so already, the Bible says that we must turn from sin and put our full faith and trust in Jesus for our salvation, believing that He died on the cross and rose from the dead on our behalf. If we do, eternal life will be ours and heaven will be our eternal home. If we receive Jesus and are truly following Him, we will want to learn and obey His Word the Bible, with special emphasis on the New Testament, which is the blueprint for Christian living.

I'd agree with your theory; perhaps they see flaws in the catholic faith, but miss the order and security that it can bring to life, so they seek ritual and meaning elsewhere.

If I wasn't an atheist I think I'd be a catholic. All the artwork and latin chants are so beautiful.
