What is Atman?

Which body does it represent? Is it unique with its own personality or just a speck of immense and all pervading conciousnous??

The beauty of Sanskrit is its richness to be able to express something that cannot be easily expressed in words !
A symbolic representation of the manifestation of universal energy though a particular form is Atman. The Universal is referred to as Parama-atman, the supreme energy, thus at once clarifying that the atman is a speck(symbolic again) of the universal (Param) ! It further gives a hint that the atman has its final destination in merging with Paramataman.
But without some experience of what we are talking about, it is futile to have 'blind' belief, for, at the best, it may offer no more than some psychological comfort or consolation, but no solution(that is dissolution !).

Para atman - supreme soul (ie;God)

living human consist of;
a- material body
b- spirit ;made of energy,unique personality,like ghost even though the soul has left(to another life or heaven if you prefer),the energy of the untimely death lingers and does have the charasteristic of the dead person.Scientic wise-energy cant be destroyed,only transfered.
c-soul (pure,a part of God,)use this analogy- God is like the sea,whereas the soul is like a drop of water in the sea,the quality of the two is the same,but God is greater .Quality in a sense that we human are capable of being kindly,good,godly but doesnt mean we are God.
