i feel you. but the answer to your question is simply power, which your people didn't pay attention before. its not about who is wrong or who is right, Life is all about control in order to survive.

Well, I would say that first of all, you are doing the same thing that you are accusing "christians and israeli's" of. You say that Americans lump all Muslims together with the few radicals who have committed terrorist acts. But you are lumping all Americans as christians, which they are not.

I will not sit here and say that the killing of civilians is right, nor will I defend someone who rapes someone else. However, there are certain things in your question that I will defend. The prisoners at Guantanomo Bay, Cuba are prisoners of war. The United States is doing absolutely nothing wrong by housing prisoners of war, they are following the Geneva convention.

I cannot speak for all American's or even any Israeli's, but I can speak for myself. I am in the United States Navy. I have friends who are muslim, even friends who are muslim that serve in the Navy. I do not believe that all muslims are terrorists, dealing in absolutes like that is just foolish. You do not have to justify that your religion is a peaceful one. The only thing that I would ask is that you denounce the ones who do use your religion for terroristic goals.

If you pay attention to the news, and actually read the articles, not just listen to the sound bites that the news anchors spit out, you will see that killing civilians and raping young girls is not ok. America is not standing for it. The military members who have allegedly (note, I use the term allegedly because in America one is innocent until they have been proven guilty, one of the basics of our society) committed these crimes. If they are proven guilty, I can guarantee you that the US and the US military will not take these crimes lightly. In fact, because we are in a time of war, I do believe that the most severe punishment given to these men, is death.

So, you ask us to be open-minded, but you didn't come here open-minded yourself. If you don't want American's to lump all muslims in with terrorist, don't lump all American's in with christians and the few people who committ crimes during war.

It's interesting that you ask for "open minded" people when your question is ladden with anti-christian/anti-western diatribes. Are you open minded? Do you not see at least in some way why so many people feel the way they do? Anyway, the reason why so much of this seems acceptable to you is your orientation. You only see things in one way, as many people do. Why were Palestians dancing in the streets when the Twin Towers fell? Thousands of people died and they were cheering. It's the same reason why the things you describe above seem to be acceptable in your mind. People only what they want to see and in that sense you are correct that people are not open minded. The bottom line is if you look at why people in the Arab world (not all, of course) but why some people cheer or at least look the other way at the behavior and actions of terrorists, you will have the answers to your questions.

In the interest of complete self disclosure - I am niether an arab, nor a muslim. I am, however, a liberal American.

Many of your questions are really good ones that I too would like an answer for. However, please be careful about using the same distortions that you're upset about. You should no more equate the conduct of some American Soldiers (or the American governement) with the teachings of Christianity or Judaism than we should equate the conduct of terrorists with the teachings of Islam.

Why when a dictator is killing thousands of his own people is it ok to let him keep doing it? Why, when a Palestinian terrorist blows up a dozen civilians is it ok? Why, when the Israeli's give land back to the Palestinians, do they start launching missiles and kidnapping soldiers. Why do Muslims around the world not rise up in righteous rage when a Muslim terrorist blows up 3000 people since Islam is a "peaceful" religion?

Unfortunately, there are many points of view. Are you open minded enough to understand my points?

Open minded option is THE ONLY WAY to get to truth, resolve differences in an intelligent way, and as a result ensure peaceful co-existence ! But human ego is spurred too quickly on religious matters, and one wrong begets a retaliatory wrong. Very difficult to keep a person under self-control, especially when individual wrongs are seldom forgotten though the event happens under the garb of political conflicts ! Each individual has to have an individual introspection, and prepare to 'give-up' something for a lasting solution !

Savo, none of those things are OK. In fact, most Americans, most Christians, most Muslims, and most citizens of the world are appalled by the actions of militants, religious fanatics, governments and media sources that try to rationalize the actions of a few. Do not ever believe that this world is really us against them. This world is largely made up of good people, working hard to try and create a better life for their children than they had. Its really that simple. The things you hear, see and read are not what the majority really feels. The majority are tied up in the day to day struggle of trying to do what is right, providing for their families and bearing the shame and sadness of every egregious act which is done in their name. Love your children, love your fellow man and don't lose sight of the beauty that surrounds you.

I serve in the US Navy. I can only give you my chistian view points. War does some strange things to ppls minds. These actions you have described are typical of soldiers no matter what their race or culture. I do not condone these actions. There has been acts of tragidy comitted on both sides of this war, but the only thing you and I can account for is our own actions. I treat other as I would have them treat me. I help others when I see them needing help. I do these things so that when I lay my head down at night I know only God can judge me.

The American soldiers wouldn't be over there except for war being waged against the USA by Bin Ladin.
The US didn't fly airplanes into buildings in any foreign country.
But they do have a nasty temper against those who did.
If you can bring forth the people who started the war, it might end.
Blame your own people for starting it. If not, God will end it soon.

I have to agree that the U.S. being in Iraq is bull crap. And Bush is a bastard who breaks laws. I don't think it has a whole lot to do with Christianity, but I do not like religion at all, anyway. As far as an insulting cartoon...shut the f up! Screw you if you can't take a freakin cartoon. Whiny baby!

because when americans do things, it is not in the name of god, but in the name of liberation and democracy. It is better to lose a few lives to achieve democracy and liberate every country in the world than it is to lose lives fighting over whose religion is better.

FYI, not all american soldiers are christians. In fact, a vast majority are atheists.

And, islam does not have 1.5 billion followers like u said,. According to recent surveys, there are only 1.4 billion followers.
