I gained 25 pounds this year and I haven't seen my relatives since I put on the weight. This will be very embarrasing if I don't lose some weight fast. But I don't want to literally kill myself over it. Any suggestions?

Calm down :) determination and confidence are two AMAZING ways to be happy and improve your look. First, I must stress NOT to go on a commercial diet. They damage your body more than you can imagine. Eat very healthy. Fruits, vegetables, meat (grilled and baked, not fried), and dairy. Do not worry about a snack or two. Don't eat 3 heavy meals a day, that is very important! Graze on healthy foods a bit all throughout the day. And for exercise, don't do work outs for bulking up. Try yoga, running, swimming, and other cardio exercises. Some sit ups and crunches, and some push ups, but go slowly with both. Running, jump-rope, swimming, hula hoops, and things that get your heart racing are great for toning your body. drink water as much as you need while exercising and a lot afterward. Water is a natural cleanser and will completely restore your body if you drink the right amounts. Also, something that has gotten me in shape quickly and effectively (and is very fun) is erotic dancing. Take a class. Rent a video. Look some moves up online. And just put on some music and dance. It makes you loose and rhythmic and gets you in touch with your sexy, feminine side. Very fun. Don't panic, and be sure to relax as well as work hard! Good luck! You can always email me if you need further assistance :)

Honestly, in ten days there are no truly healthy ways to do this.

Your best bet is to shed some fat and water weight in this time. Please do this responsibly!!!

Exercise is great, BUT it is NOT for immediate weight loss. Please realize that an hour on a treadmill at the gym is equal to eating a cookie. That's it: your body is pretty effiecient about burning food to work. But, you can easily eat through half a bag of cookies, and spend the next couple of months trying to burn that off.

Eating has a MUCH larger impact on weight gain than exercise.
Consider exercise as a way to improve health and longevity, and a means to help control weight gain. But it is not a quick and easy way to shed pounds for the average 'husky' person.

Also, you should be aware thet your water weight fluctuates radically through the day, as well as through a women's monthly menstral cycle. You could easily shed a pound of weight every time you urinate. And then put it right back on again with that next glass of whatever (water, soda, beer). You also generally carry more water weight first thing in the morning when you wake up.

Losing fat is much more scientific. Fat is about 3500 kilocalories (Calories). Your body needs about 2000 kcal per day to stay as you are. If you are a marathon runner or construction worker, you would need more. If you are laying vegetatively in a hospital bed all day, much less.
So, you want to shed 10-15 pounds in ten days. Let us start with 10 pounds and plug in some realistic numbers for you.
10 pounds = 35,000 kilocalories
This is the number of Calories you need to remove from your diet during the period you want to lose the weight, and assuming that you are currently at a constant weight (and not gaining or losing weight with your current caloric intake).

35,000 Calories.
This means in ten days you need to eat 3,500 Calories less each day than you are currently eating.
This is a lot! I doubt you are currently eating this much. And if you are then I suggest you stop it.

So, for ten days, I would suggest you cut back to three very small and light meals at regular intervals (eg, 8am, 1pm, 7pm), which are high in vegetables and fruits and low in breads and fats. Also, keep your salt intake down to help avoid water retention.
Drink lots of water. Avoid alcoholic drinks (beers, wine, liquor) and drinks with processed sugars and caffeine.
Also, start walking for about 30 minutes to an hour each day. This can help loosten a few of those calories, but will also help to shed some of the water weight you might be carrying.

I would also suggest you set up a plan to trim your excess weight off in a conscientuous manner over a four to twelve month period. It is much easier on your system, and you can enjoy the results for the rest of your life.

Hmmm: Also, I would think you must already know this since you have already answered a similar question for someone else.

Do a juice fast. You can lose roughly 10 pounds in ten days. As well as losing weight, it flushes all the toxins out of your system. It is very healthy, and many people do it. Drink juice that has been diluted with water everyday, and when getting off a fast, start with vegetables, broth, and foods that are easy to digest. When done right, the weight stays off.

It's a little late to worry about it now. You should have given yourself more lead time.. Try just eating soup for the next week. That will help.
