OK. So many religions, we know for a fact that there's at LEAST a 1 in say 20 chance that Christians are wrong. Here's why I think you are all wrong. We think god is a man with a beard who created the universe. Humans are just one of a billion species on earth alone, with an infinate amount on other planets. The sun is s mall star in the solar system, and there are many bigger ones, with many other planets. we can only see from a human perspective as we are human, but why couldn't a dolphin, a plant, a monkey, a frog, a hippo be the creator? It's such bullsh1t, it's smallmindedness. Grow up, honeslty, if you think about it, the universe is so vast, why on earth can we think a human figure created it, when we're a spec of san in the beach that is the universal species and life matter.... religion was invented for the insecure, but through science we can dismiss it all now. And all that jesus bollox, I mean, come on, think logacally not the brainwashed material we were forcefed as kids

You have such a naive and limited knowledge of religion.

In the Hindu religion God is described as a fresh youth - no old man with white beard. I have never seen the Bible describe God as being an old man with a white beard either - where exactly do you get this from - the TV/film maybe?

The Hindu scriptures describe how there are 8,400,000 species of life throughout the material creation and how the human species is endowed with consciousness and the ability to ask questions. Where is science in this regards - they still haven't discovered half the species of life on this planet let alone the universe.

The Hindu scriptures describe how there are 14 planetary systems in the material creation and also describes the living entities on those planets and the conditions of life, e.g. heavenly on some and hellish on others. The scientists have not even found life on any other planet yet.

Science hasn't proved anything yet - it hasn't found cures for the majority of diseases - only ways to suppress the symptons so that a few can get rich. Science hasn't provided any definite proof of evolution - even Darwin admitted that there must be a higher cause and that evolution does not answer all questions - and it still doesn't over a century after the theory was put forward. Science, economics or politics haven't provided any answers to world poverty, disease or death. Organisations like NATO / WHO have singularly failed in preventing wars and diseases - so think about this and try to see who is small minded.

The ones who are truly brainwashing are the scientist and politicians who keep you interested by promising very little and delivering even less.

Are you that thick? Are one of those peoolle that cannot see past the end of their nose. Firstly who said that God has a Beard? Who said that GOd is Human? The word God proves that he isn't a mortal man. He is God That's who and what he is. You try and prove that God isn't real by using the universe, but by doing that you are proving that God is real.
How else could the planets and stars get out there? By chance? Yeah and I surpose that cars are built by chance too? Or the house you live in? Don't tell me that it was a big bang neither. Because no explosion ever created anything.
You say that religion was invented for the insecure, well you could be right. But you are obviously religios too. Because you refuse to believe in the Almighty. you are a FOOL God calls you one and so do I. You think your pathetic statement is funny? Well you are a bigger fool than you realise.
How dare you critise Jesus? Who do you think you are? You need to repent from your sins and ask him to forgive you. You are an idiot if you think you are justified by what you are said, and you are pathetic.

First we need to determine which God we are talking about here. Are you referring to the real God, the unconditionally loving God who we are all a part of? This is the one Jesus was talking about when he said the kingdom of God is within you. The one who is our dearest friend and closest companion.

Or are we talking about the angry little judgmental God that lives on some far off cloud called heaven. The one who seems to be more concerned with our errors than he is with our successes? You know the egocentric needy little God that always wants people to worship him. The one who is always unavailable because he is only a fantasy? You need to specify if you want a real answer

As for the second part of your question. I believe in God because something happened that made me feel his presence. I was an atheist then one day I had a sort of a vision of a distant relative that lived over a thousand miles away. I convinced myself that it was just a case on an overactive imagination. Three days later I got a call telling me that he had gone into a coma and died the same day that I felt I had been contacted by him. I can honestly say that this changed my life completely. I felt like God had gone out of his way to help me find my way home. This is why I get angry when people talk about the judgmental God. The love I felt that day made me realize that God would never even think about judging or punishing anyone for any reason.

I wasn't brought up to believe in Christianity, nor was I ever indoctrinated as an adult. I believe in god purely and simply because he called me to be a Christian, one day on the beach, he showed me how much he loves me and I was baptised in the Holy Spirit before I knew about the Holy Spirit. God to me isn't a man with a beard, he's the creator, timeless, holy and real. Science and Christianity aren't enemies, either. There is nothing in Christianity to say that God didn't create the whole universe, the Bible doesn't even say there are no other planets with life on them, we simply don't know if there are. Before you can claim there is no God you would have to claim absolute knowledge of the whole universe. Try reading a book called,' in 6 days, why 50 scientists choose to believe in creation,' it's quite interesting.

I believe in God because with all the bad in this freakin world I choose to beleive in something good. You choose not to belive and that is fine, it's your choice. Others believe because it is their choice. That is the freedom of this country we can believe what we want to. As you say why can't a monkey, or something else, be the creator? Maybe there really is a Planet of the Apes and a monkey is their creator. As for me God is my creator, and evolution is yours. Two different people, two different belief systems. I'm not a holly roller that goes to church every time the doors open, but I do believe in God. No, I've never seen him. But I also haven't seen alot of other stuff and believe it is real. Is it truely smallmindedness as you say? Why couldn't a human figure create this? Are we not good enough. And God was not a human, he is a god. Jesus, his son, was human. Why is it so hard to just let those who believe be? Why do you have to be like one of those holly rollers and try to convert everyone into your way of thinking?

I can only tell you why I believe in God.

I believe in God because I have seen his work, and felt his presence. I am a very intelligent woman. I do not break the church doors down, every Sunday. I am not a Bible banger. And, I do not have some emotional deficit that I need to compensate for.

I have been in the presence of family and friends when they were in the dying process, and at the time of their deaths. And, I have witnessed things that I know were only possible, because of Gods work.

You say that believing in God is small minded. I think it is small minded not to open your eyes...and your mind...to the spiritual realities.

Can you really expect to find evidence of God, if you aren't willing to open your eyes....listen with your ears....and with your heart?

Spirituality is not a scientific concept. But, that doesn't make it less real. It is just a different thing, altogether.

Evidence of God is all around you. It is up to you whether or not you will "see" it. I pray that you will. The knowledge that I have, it the greatest treasure I could ever hope to have.

It's actually natural for people to believe in a higher power. The fact that humans have an intellect, but when mixed with human emotion. Fear is the biggest reason why people believe in the concept of a God or higher power. Then people fabricate rituals around this belief. It gives them a sense of control over their lives, sense of well being. If you could eliminate emotion from the human mind, I think that you would find that they would no longer feel the need for such concepts as God.

God is not a human being as you think (with a beard and all) but a force. To describe God accurately is impossible for any man as it is something of the super natural. To believe in God it is not necessary to have the belief force fed. God acts in our own lives. It is just that we fail to recognize Him. And science is something which man himself created and cannot justify. It is only assumed that it is right. If God was not there then we would have not been there. There is a lot on this topic but I'm not mentioning it. You may clarify it with a priest or you may find it in sites based on philosophy.

From an objective perspective, i would have to say that people believe in god because they are taught to believe in right and wrong...heaven & hell. If you do good you go to heaven & if you do bad then you go to hell.

God is a philosophical creation that is created to teach people proper moral values and how to function in society as well. That is the link with god and religion. Religion is basically a way of living...and ideology.

From a scientific point of view, god cannot be quantified and so god is said not to exist. It is true that science does not have all the answers, but would you rather do something based on logic or social perception?

It makes it easier for the believers to relate to. The bearded fellow you're taling about is an icon. It helps to maintain focus.

And I have to say I have never met an openminded person with such biased views.

I don't believe in God in a biblical sense, but I have an openmind.

Do you know what it means to be closed minded or are you too closed mined to take the time to ask yourself?

Open your mind to new ideas, don't hold your views on such a pedestal, and maybe you may enjoy a more fruitive life?
