It is actually not as difficult as one might think.
Start by checking if there are any programs by the government inviting foreigners. Some countries do have those; like Canada, Australia, Singapore etc. I do not recall seeing such thing for Scotland but... I never checked so, give it a try. It's a good way to start.
If you have acquaintances in Scotland, ask them to send your resume to some companies. That will work if you have skills not commonly available in the country.
Post your resume on one of those Web Head-Hunter sites, like Monster.com and mention you have intentions to relocate to Scotland.
Check with their Embassy. They might have some pointers for you.
Visit the country and assess whether you really fit in. Sometimes we have this beautiful view of things and reality is somewhat different. If you can afford to stay for a month or more, during the off-season, you will know whether things would work out for you. If you still think they do, while there, make some contacts that can help you find placement in your field of expertise after you return to your country.
Some folks you tell you to just go and stay and fix it later. That is an option but usual backfires miserably. If you really love the country, better start not breaking the law, right? ;)

you haven't given much information, but I would say it depends on your age, your skills, and the amount of money you have. Although unemployment is low it is still not easy to get really good jobs. The trend seems to be for call centres and bar, catering work for the unskilled, as well as good old labouring jobs.
You don't even say what part of Scotland- it is a varied country with big cities but also isolated islands where there is little work even for those who were born there.
I think you need to think about what you have to offer before you begin to make enquiries- do you have qualifications and work experience which will help the scottish economy?
If not, then forget it.
But you can still help out by coming as a tourist!!!!

Scotland would not accept you and your bigoted beliefs over innocent homosexuals, so i suggest you find another country like outer Mongolia, they may tolerate you
