why do these people have pit bulls and staffs and do not work and have no pet insurance be allowed to have dogs like these, they walk around as if to say my dog is better than yours and watch out. the reason im asking is my dog was attacked by one of them 1 week ago and had to get 27 stitches, the owner didnt care less, i have insurance and thank god for that as the bill came to £280. they should all be taxed to the hilt and yes i dont mind paying the tax for my dog, we are a working family by the way. what do you think?

Because it's a vicious circle. These thugs don't know any better because their parents didn't know any better and so on and so on. No excuse though. It's like any reason that these people don't care is because the law is too SOFT and they know they can get away with it. I know it makes me mad too and I reckon you should sue the w****krs. Why don't you phone up citizens advice and see what they say, maybe you could complain to the council/police because there are new laws these days that may be able to help you. Worth a try. P.S. I wouldn't ask for the dog to be put down though because it's not the poor thing's fault. It should be rescued and they should be banned from keeping animals. Don't let this go because it will happen to another poor dog sooner or later or a child. P.S. NOTE TO USELESS - you are f***cking useless! - why are you classed a snob if you have just paid out £280 to save your pet's life because of some **** who doesn't give a s**t about anything or show any respect? You just don't like the truth because these pratts do walk around thinking they're "hard" because of the breed of their dog. We pay enough tax to support most (not all) of these lowlifes (believe me there are plenty where I am and I no am not a snob) so we have a right to be angry - ah I feel better now....

Well first of all I think you are being very judgemental and assumptive. It is not only people who live in council houses who behave like that and just because someone does live in a council house, doesn't mean they are like that.

I don't think anyone should be allowed to have a pet if they can't look after it properly.

Obviously you think you are better than them when you probably don't even look after your dog because how can you if you work?

I do think that the owner of the other dog should at least have the dog taken off them though. However, I have known some situations like this where the "attacking" dog was actually provoked but the owner of the "victim" dog, being snotty-nosed, didn't take any notice of what their dog was doing and blamed it on the other dog because of it's surroundings.
Oh, and how on Earth could you know that this person lives in a council house or whether they go to work?

In response to an answer from "julie" if you actually took the time to look, you would know that drug dealers usually live in private houses. All of the things you mentioned can happen to anyone, regardless of where they come from.

Insulting people from council estates like that is the same as being racist.

I do not live in a council house, by the way, but I know a lot of decent people who do.

my family and I live in a council house. I understand what you are saying and yes there are some irresponsible owners out there. But it is not true most of the live in council housing. Alot of these people end up here because they are not bought up correctly and have not been taught the responsibility that comes with owning a dog. Living at home with two young kids and a parson russell terrier, I have no job, but I am training to be a canine behaviourist. Once I have qualified I will offer discount prices for consulatations to people on a low income so I can better inform them how to train and care for their dogs. Do not tar every one with the same brush.

I know what you are saying! and I understand it is not a snub to anyone living in council houses.
I would have phrased your quesiton the same way, as when you mention council houses, then you are identifying to others that it is a built up area of very closely built housing, where a lot of children play, in fact most of those council areas are a kind of communial in a sense, lots of kids around the block meeting up to play together. so THAT is not the place for staffordshire bull terriers, rothwilers, or indeed any other animal of that ilk.

It is a bloody disgrace, how council authorities allow this kind of irresponsible behaviour to go on.
I really want to light up this reply with very strong language, except it would be replaced with astericks, that's how much this topic gets under my skin.

I feel sorry you and anyone in a similar situation with neighbours from hell as it were.
If there is a way for you to move from there to a more suitable abode to be allowed to exist on this planet it some sort of humane surroundings then, and it is sad to say, that this is an option which must be looked at.

I would rather live in a tent or at least a mobile home somewhere away for that sort of surrounding, than live amongst it.

I don't have a solution apart from moving to another suitable area.

an I do fully sympathise with you. It must be bloody hell, as for the idiot who owns the dog which has caused you so much trouble, I can see too it is not an easy job to take them on, by getting some sort of legal proceeding against them, especially as the police are not and do not want to be involved.
you have to think of your own and family's safety with this moron.

I am but really hate being a member of the human species when I hear of this sort of behaviour, it's embarrasing to be human nowadays. there's so much bad things going on.
Replys here may not be able to help you with this problem but you can rest assured all respectable people on here are behind you 100%. as for the other silly answers, they are a non-entity so their opinion doesn't matter in the real world.

I don't know why people in council estates have pit bulls but i know why they don't care its a culture of apathy its like your living outside society and there is a little society of its own inside these council estates the criminals and the drug dealers are who's looked up to and generation after generation of families have never worked. The bigger your extended family the more power you have within the bubble . Then comes the child abuse by that i mean druggies and alcoholics neglecting there children leading to a super breed of young thugs who don't give a **** about anyone or anything as no one has ever cared about them . Its a horrific place to live.Violence in the streets is commonplace and the more violent you are the more respect you get.

firstly i lived in coucil house for 12 years and i never had a pit bull etc, most people in council houses are decent folk and hard working as well, its only the minority people you describe are like that and some of them dont live in council house either.i dont condone what happened to your mutt that was wrong of the owner to let it free, and in my opinion the dog should of been destroyed as next time it may be a child on the recieving end..
also my children have council houses and there all working with no dogs either, your too quick of the mark by branding honest decent working folk who happen to live in a council house.
by the way i bought my council house so there.

It is not just people from council houses any owner can be irresponsible. My friend has a staff and she is a very responsible owner, and myself being from a "council house" and a responsible dog owner and a working household do not like being labeled. I am sorry your dog was attacked and the owner was a irresponsible owner i must admit i would be very cross as well.

well all i can see is these people in council houses sometimes dont respect anyone else... i mean if they are struggling for money, and the council dont care.. also if they live somewhere rough, then they normally are rough with it... you should have informed the police about the injuries to your dog... and save up and move well away.. for a better life....
