Ferment grape juice in a wooden barrel...though I would think that isn't a good idea. Fermentation produces bacteria, but the wine vinyards have special procedures to control it.

There are several online retailers and resources that you can check out on winemaking, but your best bet is to locate your local homebrewing/winemaking shop. They will generally be more than happy to set you up with all of the equipment you need for wine/beer making at home, and many times having someone to answer your questions is invaluable.
Once you have all the stuff, you can pick a style of wine that you want to make and just buy a kit that includes everything from yeast to juice and the instructions/recipe. Really, making good, drinkable wine is easy and fun.
If you have trouble locating a shop near you, you might want to check out some of the beer rating sites...most of them have ratings for local homebrew/wine shops as well and you can search by your state/city.
Example: beeradvocate.com has what they call 'beerfly' that can help you find a retailer (local or online) and lists peoples experiences with them, and signup is free.
Good luck.

To do it the simple way, if you aren't picky, is to get a big gal. glass, or plastic jug, with a narrow opening, and mix one packet of dry yeast, with warm water, warm enough to dissolve yeast, but not enough to kill the yeast, about 90degrees, and add 3 cups of sugar, or one more depending on how dry, or sweet you like it. Then, add one large can of concentrated red, or concord grape juice, unfrozen to jug, fill the rest of the jug with warm water, to come only to wear the jug narrows, and place large balloon over the top of the opening, Save lid however for cover when ready, and let sit for a least 3 months in warm dark place. Balloon will get quite large from the gases building up in jug. In 3 months you'll have some pretty good wine. Beware! This is stronger then store bought wine, and has a kick like a Missouri mule

wine is created by the process of bacteria/yeast feeding on the sugars in fruit juices. the bacteria consumes the sugar and leaves or creates alcohol as a byproduct. this process stops at about 7% alcohol however because the alcohol content gets high enough to kill the bacteria. anything over 7 % alcohol has Been manually added by the producer. if you want to try, the recommendation is to get a starters kit, and follow the directions carefully! Any alcoholic drink can be harmful to humans, even poisonous.

If you want to experiment, buy a wine kit and try it.
Really, it isn't worth the effort. All that buying and store the equipment, sterilizing demijohns and bottles, corking, storing in the right temperature. And waiting so long for the wine to be ready to drink, and then sometimes it isn't and you have to pour it all down the drain.
At some wineries you can buy good wine from the tap. Get a plastic gallon barrel and buy your wine from them.

Here is my list of suggested web sites. They describes how to make alcoholic beverage. Make sure that you can drink it after. Some alcohols are not good for human consumption.
