That's interesting didn't know that one. WoW then alot of people are going to hell then. But seriously talking I don't believe in hell nor the bible when people realize that the bible was made by a selfish man trying to control the world. Then maybe the world wouldn't be a bad place. SInce everything like war etc are based on religion.

What you have quoted is from Mosac Law. Some call it Torah. It is accepted by Muslim, Jews and Christian. Err. . . . Yes it is Torah.

Shall not enter the congregation may not means destined for hell. Please note that during Jesus time, he said that he come to fulfill the Law. Thus, those who believe in his name will be saved.

In those days, sex outside marriage is rampent in the land. Every other tribes is doing it. Some even have temple prostitutes serving sex in the temple, both male and female.

The law is to show the seriousness of such sin. Imagin, if everyone practise sex before marriage, what kind of society will it be?

What is important is, when Jesus died on the cross, the curtain that seperate holy place and holy of holiness was torn into two, showing that now man can come to God directly, and need not go thru priest.

Jesus loves Bastard too. When he was on earth, he dwells among the sinner of the sinneres. Prostitute, tax collector, the outcast etc. As Doctor come for the sick, not the healthy, He come for those who need God,

Hope you can accept this simple explaination.

Jesus loves you.

They are not. The verse you have used is taken out of biblical and social and historical context. The NIV version of that verse is "No one born of a forbidden marriage nor any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord, even down to the tenth generation."

First: The assembly (or congregation) was not heaven but the weekly meetings of men inside the synagogue. Those meetings usually were attended by the Levite men (the tribe of priests), scholars, and the men who were leaders of the community. Attendance at the synagogue assembly was not required for practice of Judaism.

Second: Like the majority of laws laid down to the nation of Israel by Moses this law was meant to minimize punishment. At the time children of forbidden marriages were completely ostracized from the community. They were denied access to the priests to offer the sacrifices required by Jewish law. No one would give them work. Most were left to starve in the streets.

What this law did was say that those children and their descendants were still members of the community. They still had the right to work and earn food, housing and shelter. They were still allowed to offer the sacrifices as required by Jewish law. The only price they were to pay was that they could not participate in the generally assembly meetings.

The Bible HAS a deeper meaning. Jeez... didn't you EVER read the Da Vinci Code?

And doesn't Revalations have a deeper meaning than that?

Come on, the Bible hasn't been fully understood yet... sheesh, and remember that it has only been translated AND revised for the past few centuries... so it must've come out wrong...

And I guess, bastard means a sinner who never asked for forgiveness of his sins, so he doesn't "enter the congregation of the Lord". And maybe, if his tenth generation will EVER go to hell, it means that he taught his own culture to his chlidren, and it was passed on for generations... till the tenth.

It really depends if the "bastard" will change. If he does, then he ain't a "bastard" anymore.

Sorry, I was just pissed of because of the other answers...

ok, you are not reading this at all the right way, you are so ready to condemn Chritians that you have misread this. It says that a child born out of wedlock shall not enter into the CONGREGATION of the Lord, meaning the synagogue. Read and stop pouncing on believers

something to do with sodom and gamora...God didn't want to have all that sin so he had a prophet write that we sould only have one man to one woman, some folks haven't learned that yet. We have lots of kids that have half brothers and sisters all over the USA because there are a lot of dead beat parents that won't pay child support these kids end up on USA welfare, they cost our country dearly. Most have bad grades to match their home lifes if they have one, some end up is state ran programs and NEVER quit using the state they live in, get a JOB! Why when mom get a check for nothing. Ya A job sound like a bad word to some of these kids. I sure knew lots of kids that didn't have a dad. I know my kids know lots of kids that have two stepdads by age 10. what does that tell you about the moms having these kids. NO restraint! wait until you are married right! I think my two kids were the last two legimate kids born in my husbands family....how many does other people have? repeat the cycle get a mess.

While it is good to see you reading your bible, it seems your intentions are off a bit. There is only one sin, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, that is unpardonable. So that child is as welcome to God as anyone else. All they have to do is have faith and accept Jesus and repent (turn from) their sins and they will be saved. And you would do better reading something from the new testament. Try the Gospel of John. And by the way I would worry more about yourself heading for hell then some child you don't know that you made up just to get the proper effect. Like the poor tribal man in the middle of nowhere who has never heard of God. I here that one alot too. Don't worry on judgement day everyone will give account and God is fair.

The ancient Jews were frightened judgmental people who thought that their way was the only way that was right.

Sadly many of these silly ideas got included in the bible.

Rather than ignoring the nonsense and focusing on the positive messages the bible contains. Many spout the Old Testament’s judgmental nonsense continuously and ignore the more positive loving messages that the bible has for us.

We need to be aware of this and pay no attention to these people. They are not Christians and could best be described as pseudo Jews because they are not really Jews either. It seems like most of them fit best into the category of bigot or hate monger, but I really should not go there because if we do we are acting just like they are.

If we are true followers of Jesus we need to love them in spite of the negativity they create.

Perhaps your question should read "Fundamentalist Christians, why...?"

Most other Christians (and followers of the Old Testament) accept that Deuteronomy could not have been written by Moses as "he wrote about his own death and burial". In fact most people accept that many of the stories are cultural reflections or historical accounts that were handed down by word of mouth for centuries bofore ever being written.

I am a Christian - which by definition is "A follower of Christ", who you may note is introduced in the New Testament.

The verse you quote does not say what you are mis-interpreting it to say.

If you would actually read the Bible to learn about God, instead of pulling out verses for sensationalism and to attack those who follow God's teachings, you might learn the Truth about God.

I don't fully understand everything God does; none of us do. I do know this however.

God sent His only Son, Jesus, to offer Himself up as a living sacrifice, to buy my freedom upon that cross and I gladly choose that sacrifice.

Jesus brought us a new covenant, a new plan, a new design for life on this earth and I accept it.
