Considering that Internet dating has dramatically increased in the past few years, you're on the right track. Some chat rooms work as well, but be wary. After you meet someone on line have as many phone calls as possible before you get together, and remember, the first meeting should always be during the day at a public place.
The telephone calls will sort out the rascals ! As far as returning e-mails, or not, that's the number one problem on the 'net today.

Internet dating is a totally legitimate, and good option to consider. To stand out it's best to be quite descriptive about your hobbies and life, while still being fairly brief and not giving too much info. Let your personality shine through your profile. Unless you're looking for a certain kind of partner, free dating sites are usually better option. If you're a guy, on internet dating, the guy is always supposed to send the first message, it's pretty rare to get a message from a girl out of nowhere that you don't know. It's not because you aren't attractive, it's just the way it works, even if it is a bit lame. Even online, the guy has to make the first move.

You may not be getting answers to your email because the men don't subscribe to the site, they just have an ad posted. On many sites, if you don't subscribe, you can't even read the email or they can read it, but can't respond until they pay the subscription fee. It might help if when you send them an email, include a way that they can contact you other than thru the personals site. A lot won't respond if you don't have a picture posted. Also, there are free sites out there such as cupidbay.com, matchdr.com, americansingles.com, plentyoffish.com. Good luck - just be yourself

I think that these sites are a waste of time and money...and yes, probably all the men there are looking for sex. So far, nothing is better than someone you get to know face to face.

Internet dating sites aren't that effective, regarless of how you look
Its just a source of meeting people and if you are open minded you can meet some intereting guys that you otherwise will never ever come across in your normal path of life - so that can be a good thing!!
good luck!

actually dating sites aint to bad,I know many who have met there "soulmates" as they say on dating sites and the internet chat rooms... see i look at it like this.... no matter where you go you will find someone lying.... you find them lying on the net.. you will find some guy in person lying as well. like the ones who hide the wedding ring or the ones who say they are single when there girlfriend is away

I think four sites is a bit of overkill, it is probably best to stick to one and see how that goes.
One of my best friends met his wife on a dating site so I guess they do work.
