A butterfly is the symbol of coming out of our shells, our cacoons, sometimes there is a struggle involved. It began as a lowly caterpillar, eating leaves, and now it can fly and drinks nectar from flowers. However, the life span of a butterfly is short, so enjoy it while you can!

I think it symbolises change. A growth into a new person. A more mature person
