one of my favourite quotes is
"never let a sense of morality prevent you from doing what is right"
morality, ethics and religion are all fashion accessories
and historically they change even within the same culture

morals and ethic is total self responsibility and also relative to the individual
my moral standards and that of anyone else in the world may be miles apart due to circumstance , upbringing and surroundings
that's why i feel that when we pass .. we dont stand to be judged by anyone but our self because only we know the limits of our own morals
i cannot say that someone in the middle east , or in the USA , or anywhere else is doing something morally or ethically wrong because i am not them ..
of course there are perhaps certain universal ethics, that goes without saying ..but even then with killing etc .. we cannot know and understand the circumstances surrounding the event unless we are walking in the shoes of that person
morals and ethics come from us .. as we have free will... that is the only thing i believe in this comment that came from god

Definatly, we need a resurge of Humanism and secularism. I do think that religion has lost the moral high ground, who can seriously believe that religion is the moral standard anymore? Libertarian-Democracy however, i believe in. Pro-Choice, Pro-Gay Rights, Anti-War, Pro-Human...i think we can claim to hold the high groudn ehre guys

To me, the most important element of this question is the point that morality and ethics would nicely be carried out without faith. there'll continually be moral and moral those who're non secular or not; there'll continually be immoral and unethical those who're non secular or not. those who call themselves non secular have not cornered the market on morality. i have continually agreed with the bumpersticker from many years in the past, "the moral Majority is Neither!"

Glad I'm not the only one who sees the really religious people (fanatics) are the first to leave their morals behind.

The primary reasons people invent religions are to justify their own misbehavior and to provide an excuse to condemn others.

Not so... they just need to be saved from the suffix-sentence "...or you will die and suffer endlessly in sulphur and brimstone and hell and lots of really hot fire."
Again everything is fairly good until you introduce people into it..
