An ancestor states his birthplace on numerous census returns as 'Pike Town' Worcestershire. I am wondering where abouts this is exactly.

I notice on the cenus returns that most of the people who say they were born in "Pike, Worcestershire" were living in another county. Made me think that the census taker had never heard of the place and spelled it the way it sounded.
The closest sounding name to Pike in Worcestershire is Powick.
I tested out this theory by looking at various people who said they were born in "Pike." In other years, these same people said they were born in "Powick."
Powick is a couple kms SW of the town of Worcester on A449.

This may refer to him being born in a travellers (gypsy) town. In the UK travellers are often referred to as a Pikey or Pike (said the same way). Travellers sent up camps near settled towns and sometimes form large communities with the population fluctuating depending on the seasons and the desire for family groups and caravans to move on.
Its possible that this "Pike Town" was situated outside the town he then resided in or that at one time there was a large travellers settlement in Worcestershire that no longer exists. The settled community was and still is largely intolerant of the Travelling Community, often regarding them as thieves, criminals and generally a bad influence.

I'm from Worcestershire (Pershore) and I've never heard of Pike Town I'm afraid. Nothing even close.

It's in Worcestershire.
You want a funnier town name then try "Loggerheads". It's a real town in the UK.
