Well, one thing that Christians get wrong, "Sodomite" which has been translated on several occations as "Homosexual" actually refers to a citizen of the city of Sodom. The sins of Sodom were listed in the bible and not a single one of them was homosexuality, or even sexual perversion. Homosexuality is just about the only sin in the old testament, outside of the 10 commandments, that the majority of Christians will speak out against. This is because Gays are a group of people that can be pointed too. A "good" Christian that's cheating on his wife, can point to the Gay guy and say "Sinnnnneeeerrrrrrr!!!" and take the attention away from himself. The Pastor that embezzles money out of the church fund, can point to the Gays and say "Abomination!" The Priest that rapes and molests his favorite alter boy can say "We need to stop Homosexuals from their evil lifestyle!" It's an old magic trick. It's called misdirection. When a magician wants to do a trick he makes you look in one spot while the real action is happening somewhere else, and viola, I art holier than thou!

Start with the story of Lot and the destruction of Sodam and Gomorrah. Next remember Adam & Eve were organized into a family unit. Review some of the sex laws under the Law of Moses about not "spilling your seed" when you don't plan to have a child. Finally note that no where in all the scriptures do we have a story of someone gay being accepted especially during Christ's ministry.
The challenge is for Christians to reach out and not judge anyone gay. Afterall, you may not approve of someone's life choices, but it never gives you the right to mistreat them. Christ's life was full of examples of interacting with people who were considered sinners. I bought a house off of a young gay couple and still can't believe the persecution they must of have faced in this area. At the time of the house sale, I had to get the new hot tub repaired and the local business refused after selling and installing the spa. I learned it supposedly hinged over their dislike of gay people and sadly the business was owned by a minister who they respected. (It was a face to face conversation without witnesses between the owner and me.) These young men were a committed young couple and very nice to me.

If a gay/lesbian has a strong faith in a Christian god and follows these teachings faithfully, goes to church, tithes will he/she still go to hell? Didn't this Jesus guy die on the cross for all men's sins? Doesn't this Christian religion preach forgiveness? Picking apart the hypocrisy of Christianity is sooooo easy in a case like this. Gay/Lesbians are no danger to anyone. They are simply people that have a different outlook on life. It's not wrong. Who are they hurting? Me? Not hardly. You? Not a bit. A threat to marriage? Give me a break...with the divorce rate hovering just a bit over 50% in this country I'd say gay/lesbians are not much of a threat...wouldn't you? Let people live their life as they see fit. It's simply nobody's business but their own.

It's because people tend to rate sins, usually the ones they are guilty of are rated the lowest. God on the other hand does not rate sin. So will your gay friends be judged by God for their sin. Yes. For all sin. If it makes you feel better just imagine that they will be judged for the lies they told, for things they stole. It is all the same in the eyes of God. You are quite correct though, we are not to judge only to warn of the coming judgement. And they would be lucky to have a friend like you if you would do just that. But unfortunately you probably will not, that is very sad. If you have been judged by pepole who have no right, I am sorry. But the actions of some do not speak for all. Be sure God is fair, but His wrath is harsh and it is hanging over you like a cloud while you continue to reject Him. Please think about it. I hope you do. Good luck and God Bless.

I'm a Christian who doesn't like the idea of gay people (lesbians are more acceptable), who has a few family members who are gay that I have learned to accept. The reason I don't like the idea of homos is because I find it very odd and creepy that a guy would do anything with another guy that I would with a girl, and like it just as much. The sight also repulses me, because personally, I think men are lucky in the first place to get the NATURAL attraction of women, because we are hairy beasts, and seeing a guy dance or kiss another guy is simply disgusting. They are mostly good people, not possessed demon hellspawns destined for eternal suffering, I know, and good to talk with sometimes, like ordinary people, but what I've written is generally why I don't like them. Oh, and it has nothing to do with religion for me.

it's not just Xtians... and ultimately all genuinely spiritual people are not bigoted or homophobic or sexist... but less enlightened and devout Christians fall prey to ordinary human sins of bigotry and discrimination... it's impossible to keep it out of religion really.
humanity in general is sexist, and racist and homophobic. in tribal societies the intergendered are treated differently and separately... though we are revered in some of these cultures as shamen, we are still "separate and different" and there's the implication of us being unequal. so not much has changed over the course of 80,000 years... we're still separate and different.
Christ and several other prophets though did not teach that. Jesus and the Bible are very accepting and recognizing of eunuchs as the intergendered and the ancient world's version of GLBT. The idea that eunuchs are just castrated celibate men is a lie, perpetuated by homophobic and sexist conservative/fundamentalist jews and patrician/paulian christians. Gay men and likely women are referred to as Eunuchs several times throughout the Bible, Daniel, Isaiah, Samuel, Matthew. Jesus says specifically that some of us are born that way. We're all born celibate so he's obviously talking about hermaphrodites. And that's what gays ultimately are... genetically, anatomically, or hormonally... hermaphrodites.

My dear friend,
I am a Roman Catholic and I will try and explain the Church teaching on this matter. First of all any sexual act outside of marriage is a sin and that includes hetrosexual acts, homosexual acts, beastiality and self acts such as masturbation. So please don't take it personally if it seems like an attack against a practicing homosexual. Any sexual act outside of marriage is a sin.
It is not wrong to have temptations! I am sure there are many people out there who have homosexual temptations and hetrosexual temptations. It is only a sin to act on these temptations outside of marriage.
The human body is the most amazing gift by God. We are made in his image and likeness and because of that are bodies are sacred. You have to understand that anyone who abuses their sexuality whether they are hetrosexual or homosexual or whatever... they are hurting themselves and others and indeed the creator God.
God Loves us so much and it is only in living the turth of his message of Love can any of us meet him. And to be honest with you i don't think sexual sins are the worse kind of sin. We are weak creatures who constantly fall especially in the regard of sexuality and promiscuity etc. Yet God is so forgving and always reaches out his arms to us when we fall.
I have taght and done counselling for years and I can tell you very clearly when people break the fundemental laws of Christ they hurt themselves and others! Breaking the sexual laws causes so much pain emotionally, physically and mentally. So many homes have been broken and children left hurt and neglected etc. because of sexual sins. So much conflict and even wars have their rooots in sexual sin. I know you love your gay friends and God Loves them more then you could even imagine to LOVE them. It is just if they are practivcing homosexuals as is any one whos is fornicating their is always in that persons psyche the lonelyness, brokeness, abondonment, self hate and restlessness. I admit this can be at varying levels but it will always be there. They never have true peace and Joy which can only be given by the Creater himself the word made flesh Jesus Christ. God Loves you Dorothy and I am sorry if you or your homosexual friends have been persecuted. May Gods Love penetrate your hearts and your enemies.
God Bless!

It comes from a literal interpretation of the bible. In leviticus and deuteronomy, gays are called an abomination. the Apostle paul condemns it in the new testament in Romans and Corinthians, and Finally St. Peter Condemns it in Revelation.
Funnily enough Jesus himself says nothing about it. If it was all that important, dont you think Jesus would have said something?

The Bible does not condone or accept homosexuality.
Romans 1:24-27 calls it unnatural, unclean and disgraceful.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 also condemns men who lie with men (along with theives, drunkards, fornicators and adulterers, greedy persons, idolators).

In the Bible (in Leviticus) it states that we are not to have same sex relations. However, I personally, as a Christian, do not judge. That is for God to do, not me. I like people for who they are regardless of sexual orientation (or race, religion, etc). And they should not be unwelcome by the church.
