I mean, sure the old testament says that fathers can sell there daughters into slavery. And yes there are things about husbands killing there wives. But mormons belive that you inherit a planet when you die, and its the wifes job to be forever pregnant to populate that planet. How is that fair? haha i've never had a kid, and I want some, but I don't want to have them FOREVER!

Girlie Girl, you're opening a can of worms here. Women are not treated inferior then men. I can tell you that there isn't a man anywhere that can make it to heaven without his woman. To fully understand that is a wonderful thing. You already have several people on a tirade here who a foaming at the mouth and stating things that are inacurate and false. I would love to answer everything but find it impossible to do, there isn't enough space...
Steve you have us all wrong and I wish that you would at least when trying to answer on behalf of my religion that you would at least try to make some effort to do it with some truthfulness.
Our goal is to return to our Heavenly Fathers presence and live with him eternally, the only way we can do that is through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We know that it is not by anything we can do that that is possible but only through HIM. So I don't know where you got your info from but that is what we believe.

The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.
Notice how it says as equal partners. taken from the proclamation on families.

God is our Heavenly Father. He loves us and wants us to return to Him.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is our Savior. He redeems us from death by providing the Resurrection. He saves us from sin as we repent.
Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can return to live with God if we keep His commandments.
The Holy Ghost helps us to recognize truth.
The first principles and ordinances of the gospel are faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth.
The priesthood authority of God exists in His Church today, just as it did in the original Church.
The Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God.
God reveals His will to prophets today, just as He did anciently.
Our life has a sacred purpose.
Families can be together forever.
Through serving others, we can experience joy and draw closer to God.

On the contrary, Mormons venerate their women. Mormon men are taught that women are given the power to share in God's creative power...that they can help bring life to God's spirit children (us). To worthy men is given a lesser gift, that of administering to God's children in God's name.

Additionally, it is a man's responsibility to get married, and Mormons believe that (with the exception of those who were never afforded an opportunity) a man cannot attain exaltation (the goal of every true Mormon) without a woman by his side...the same is not true for women (it being the responsibility of a man to find a wife...not a woman to find a husband).

As for the inheriting planets and being eternally pregnant, you've likely been reading stuff from disreputable sources. If you want to know what a person or group believes, you should talk to that person or group. Ask a current temple recommend-holding member (or better, a missionary) if you want information about the Mormons. Former members and other groups have a vested interest in leading you to believe them, but they are rarely reputable. On the same note, asking a Mormon about Catholicism or a Democrat about Bush or a French fan about the Italian soccer team would be inadvisable. The best idea would be to find a completely objective party, but in terms of religion, that is nigh on impossible. There is value in the old axiom, "consider the source".

I don't believe we are. I do the dishes, the laundry, change the diapers, clean the house, etc. I don't expect my wife to be a baby factory in the hereafter nor do I believe that I will own a planet, hmm, maybe just a continent or something.. I would suffice for something like Hawaii ;)

I am sorry, Bible do not say father can sell daughter into slavery. Husband in the same manner can not kill wifes. Moreover, the slavery mentioned for the Hebrew is very different, it is more like our contract worker in todays'c contact, and need to be release after the year of Jubilee.

However, if one wish to be like God (Just like satan), I recommend he joint Momon, for they can ultimately be God! That is in their theory.

I do agree, Momons is sexist, allowing men to have many wives. It is not right.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and as a woman, I can tell you that my faith has been the major factor in building my self worth as a woman. I know that I am a daughter of God. I know that God loves his daughters like he loves his sons. I am an equal partner in marriage with my husband, we make decisions together, he doesn't dominate me, we treat each other with love and respect.

Please don't confuse Mormonism with Christianity.

Mormonism glorifies "self". Christianty glorifies God.

Mormons believe that you can become a god when you die. Christians believe that you can be with God when you die.

Mormons believe, like most religions, that you can achieve eternal happiness by the things that you do in this world, according to their rules and their man made definition of life.

Christians believe that you can achieve eternal life with God, by following His instructions to choose life through Jesus, according to God's design as stated in the Bible.

it depends on how you look at it. they aren't "anti-woman." They do a great deal to uplift women, but in the role they see them as having in the church. men have the leadership and women are the helpers. but there are many professional women in the church, women who have jobs outside the home, leadership outside the home and church, etc. it isn't an oppressive atmosphere at all, really. i'm not a member, but i have friends in the church and have visited.
