Average IQ is meant to be 100, irrespective of age.
However, there are flaws in the IQ testing system, which can affect the results individual tests provide.
For example, some questions are culturally based, and so individuals from a different region of the world will not necessarily interpret the question in the same way.
Equally, we each have individual strengths and weaknesses such as spatial perception, wordplay, etc which the tests are meant to average out. However, individual tests may bias one particular attribute over another according to how the questions are selected.
An individual's IQ score is also affected by their physical and mental state at the moment they sit the test. Thus, if you're tired, you will record a lower score than if you're refreshed. If you're stressed you similarly will score lower than if you're calm and at one with the world.
Let's not forget that the basis of IQ testing was an assertion that intelligence was linked with class - a theory which the very first tests to be administered disproved.

Honestly I'm not sure but if you know the average IQ of people in general you will have your answer. IQ is not a measure of knowledge, it's a measure of intelligence. A 16 year old is very likely to be quite uneducated/unknowledgable but that doesn't mean they do not have a high IQ.

100.
The average IQ is always 100. When you take an IQ test it actually bases its results on your age. Otherwise it would be unfair as older people would have higher IQ's because they would know more. The tests makes a general assumption of what you should know and works out your IQ from this.

IQ means inteligence quotient you can get your iq tested now but i think it was origenally designed for a lot younger age. So to get a true iq i think your too late at 16. Inteligence is measured by how well you learn and adapt and not making the same mistakes, its not measured by how good you are at a particular subject or that.

There are no specific averages for each age group. The general average is 90-100 points.

It is not 100 they say that so under achievers don't feel bad-normally the mean in truth is 110-this is only capability and not a guarantee that you will fullfill the potential that it denotes-ie. i could have a really high IQ. but sweep steets all my life cos i won't make an effort!-no intention to demean the wonderful job that those wonderful people whom clean up our rubbish for us is intended in any way!ktf.x--also there are many systems.x
