If this is for real, then absolutely yes, you have a "disease".It's called Obsessive Comulsive Disorder, or OCD. There is a genetic component, but it is treatable--usually with anti-anxiety meds, sometimes with the newer antidepressants,in combination with therapy/councelling--particularly coginitive behavioural therapy.I think some good results *can* be had with therapy alone , too. I don't know where you are, but a good GP will immediately recognise what you are talking about. Also a TONNE of info on the net. Go--go now, and channel some of that drive into finding some help for it. That is not any way to live! Bless, and good luck:)

Yes it could be obsessive compulsive disorder. Not anything serious but hinders your social context. It is not a major psychiatric problem.Neurosis; they call it.Treatable.Not a very great problem. Many people have it although the area of concern may be different. You can consult a psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation.
By the way, is your Sun sign "virgo" ?

It's not a disease. It's a phobia and you can get help. It's a variant of obsessive compulsive behavior. It's funny to see Monk freaking out..but in reality..it can ultimately affect your life and the life of those around you for the worse. Contact the National Insitute for Mental Health NIMH (now you know the secret of NIMH too!) and they can point you in the right direction. http://www.nimh.nih.gov/HealthInformation/ocdmenu.cfm

Obsessive compulsive disorder is more common than you may think, many people have it and don't even realize it. The first step is what you have already have done, acknowledging the problem, from there you can make the choice to seek help, help yourself, or continue on your path I guess>

Floors hold on to more germs than almost any other surface. In hospitals, city buildings and elsewhere. Hospitals have nosocomial infections, and most public buildings have staph!

If ignored it may eventually restrict you socially. There is medication to help and therapy wouldn't hurt. I have heard of children who got sick because their environment was too clean.
