Since I was little, I have always wanted to join the marines even before the war with Iraq. My older brother is into government theories and he has showed me plenty of videos stating that the war is fake and all of that stuff. Now im really confused on whether or not I really want to join. Can someone in the marines help me out here? I just want to see whats really going on in Iraq. Thanks!

Watch Friday the 13th, that is what is going on in Iraq. A curious Japanese boy went over there and lost his head. They show no mercy to anyone regardless of where they are from.

It is serious business and you will not come home the same person, that I guarantee. Some things can never be erased from your mind and come back as flashbacks. Think long and hard before you enlist. Remember, curiosity killed the cat. Go for a better reason like believing in freeing a country from an oppressive regime.

Joining the Marines is a decision you should not take likely. I recommend talking with your local recruiter and see your options. Also, take your ASVAB. Higher your score, the more you qualify for. Remember this, recruiters will tell you what you want to hear. They are "salesman". Their job is to sell you the Marine Lifestyle. Take what they say with a grain of salt. Ask yourself, " what would I want to do as a Marine?" DO you want a career? Do you just want your 4 years? Do you want to be a reservist?
I personally, am a former Marine. WOuld I do it again? YES...
Here is why I would. The Marine Corps instills in you, self-pride and pride for your country and your corps. It also instills traits in you that will last you long after you are out such as integrity, dedication, tact, duty, and honor. It is something not everyone can do. It is a brotherhood. Of a beginning platoon of approx 90 recruits, the average of 60 graduate.

Don't worry about what anyone else thinks they know. Do what you feel is good for you. Talk to your local recruiter about what is a good path for YOU. You're not talking about your brothers future so why should his opinions have a say so. This is entirely about you for the next 4, 8, 12, 16, rest of your life? You need to do what you need to do to get your future rolling. Not every marine fights the war. Some of us help those that do. I'm an 1171 water purification specialist. I supply water to those that need it in the field. There's no glory there, no-ones gonna put my name on a "most kills" list. and there's no need to. because I'm not there for medals and neither should you be. I'm there to serve my fellow marines and my country. Don't let your brother or anyone else decide your future. Talk to your recruiter. if YOU decide it's not for you, that's fine, but don't let anyone else make that decision for you. IM me if you'd like to know more.

Well first off always use a capital M when saying Marine, even if this is yahell slang, and second if you want to go to the Corps go for it, it's a personel decision, don't think of it as curiosity in the desert, the Marine Corps is much more than that, it's a brotherhood that many can't understand, and never will. But idk, you have to make the choices that's all we have, but don't make them on curiosity of the world abroad though

When joining the Marines, you have to ask yourself, "Do I really want it?" The proudest moment of my life was the day that my drill instructor handed me my Eagle, Globe and Anchor and called me a Marine.

All of the branches have a mission, and a particular way of doing things, and they will teach you what you are made of. I matured more in my thirteen weeks at Parris Island that I did in my previous 18 years.

If somebodies reference to the military is a movie, their opinion has no substance. If you feel you want to make a commitment to this nation and your fellow man, join up. About any job you can think of, the military has.

If you want to join the marines, do it. There is nothing wrong with living a life of honor. Your brother is a tool for having tried to dissuade you.

Its your choice man. I been to the "Sandbox" twice. There's nothing fake about being over there. You should look into Infantry MOS's. Thats where all the fun stuff is, but thats coming from an 0351. Whatever you decide to do I hope u find the right path to guide you.

I hear their training is really difficult. I would do some investigation before I committed myself. If you think you have the stamina and the drive for it, go for it by all means. That is why they are Marines, they are trained to be tuff stuff and mean.
