the hospital in sao paulo told a friend that medication wasn't available in brazil! seems odd/ wrong? i can take my own but problem is health of brazilian friends (already there) with whom i'll be travelling

also, chloroquine is a pretty well heard of medication. many of the brand names are some kind of offshoot of that name. so asking for chloroquine may also get results.

remember - different malarias exist, and different malarias are susceptible to different drugs. a good idea would be to go to your local health department, which usually has a travel clinic. they can look up where in bazil you are living/where you will be travelling to and tell you which bugs are there and which drugs are best for you.

Sure it is available. But if you ask for a specific one you will get a 'no'. Most Spanish/Portuguese speaking countries have the same medication but by different names.

Lariam aka Mefloquine Hydrochloride. Probably has a different name but asking for Mefloquine Hydrochloride should get you some.
