What is limit, what are the uses of limits in mechanical engineering?

when we say limit a is b means that a tends to b but never be equal to b . because at the point of mathematics there is infinite numbers between a and b.

I take it you mean limit in the mathematical sense. In that case, all derivatives used in engneering calculations are in fact limits as h tends to zero. Hence using differentiation in solving engineering problems are in fact making use of limits big time, eg. calculating stress, strain, max/min current, etc, etc.
