Jessica lall was murdered some 8years ago or so, by Manu Sharma, son of a politician, in a restaurant called Tamarind Court , run by socialite Bina Ramani in New Delhi. Manu Sharma and few of his buddies came to the restaurant after closing time and demanded a drink, which Jessica refused to serve as she was the bar hostess that particular night. Manu offered to pay her a large sum of money for the drinks, but it cut no ice with Jessica, who still said no to him. This infuriated the already sossled Manu who took out his pistol and at point blank range shot her in the head. There were witnesses to the crime as there were still some people around. Manu then made a hasty exit along with his friends. He was chased by the owners' husband to a point, but managed to escape in his friends car who gave him shelter and protection. His car was left behind at The Tamarind Court. Investigations pointed a guilty finger at him and he was arrested. But there was not enough proof to nail him down as the murder weapon was never found and witnesses proved 'hostile' so he was let off from prison and now is roaming around a free man. Even the police did not do a good job in prosecuting him and the ballistic report proved that there were 2 cartridges found at the murder site fired from 2 different pistols! this later on was proved to be false, as some body had planted the other cartridge to confuse the issue. Since Manu comes from a powerful political family who has tremendous clout people are scared to come forward to point him as the murderer for fear of their lives. They know that the police will not be able to protect them from the goons and thugs the Sharmas may send to harass them or or even worse eliminate them as well. So Manu still thinks he can get away, though there is enough circumstantial evidence to convict him. The case is still going on and one hope's and prays' that justice will be done and the culprit will be punished

Jessical Lall was a model in New Delhi who was working as a celebrity barmaid at a socialite party when she was shot dead on April 29, 1999. Dozens of witnesses pointed to Siddharth Vashisht alias Manu Sharma, the son of Venod Sharma, a minister in Haryana, as the murderer. Due to inadequacies in the investigation and an overall shoddy prosecution, Manu Sharma and a number of others were all acquitted by Judge S. L. Bhayana on February 21, 2006.
The surname "Lall" is sometimes spelled "Lal" in the media.
