A caller once called into kwave, our local christian radio station, and asked if the ppl who jumped from the towers before they collapsed killed themselves. Well imagine my suprise when they said THEY DID! Now I know suicide is wrong, but these ppl had the guts to say that if they really trusted God they would have stayed in the building.

I would like to know the opinions of other christians. Did these ppl commit suicide?

My thought is, we don't know, we weren't there. For all we know God himself appeared to them and told them to jump. Or maybe they hit there head and thought they were just going for a walk. I know thats doubtful, but fear, and head injuries can do wonders.

The caller just asked the question, it was the hosts (two pastors who's names escape me) that said they actualy commited suicide.

These same two ppl... on the same show made a 7 year old cry telling her that her pets would not go to heaven. While I know they wouldn't, its still not something you need to fully explain to a small child.

I think they did kill themselves, but not in the sense of "committing suicide." They did choose to jump, but I don't think it's as simple as saying if they trusted God, they would've stayed in the building. The building was on fire. If your house was on fire and you were in it, would you stay inside the house or get out? I think it was a choice between jumping or being burned alive. I think it's wrong to say that those people didn't trust God. No one knows what they would've done that day in that situation. They were trapped inside the building and didn't want to be burned alive. I'm sure jumping was less painful than being burned alive. Most likely, they were dead before they hit the ground...I've always heard that anyway.

I am a Christian, but I don't think religion or belief should have anything to do with the those who died at the world trade center. The only time religion has anything to do with anything is when people are killed for a specific religious belief. Those people was killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
No one has the right to judge those that died in the twin towers attack whether they jumped or not.
I know that the terrorists believe they were doing this horrific thing for their god. Why would anyone take part in a religious belief that would call for the death of innocent people? Is beyond me and makes me sick. but if there's any blame to be placed, I believe it will be placed on the heads of those responsible for the deaths of those that jumped or not....They were all killed just the same.
I still ache from the memories of what was shown in the early news pictures and I can see that even this question has made me flash back to that day.

I don't believe that God will judge those that did jump for killing themselves but I do believe those that celebrate the deaths of the victims of 911 will be judged for killing/causing the deaths of those who died.

Don't blame God..... Blame the idiots that do idiotic things in the name of God. If their God was supposedly real, why would he need the help of those imbeciles. If God is real and wanted to annihilate any race, wouldn't he do it himself?

Think about it.........
He almost did.

Get over this god does everything trip. People make choices not god. Yes they killed themselves. Either stay and burn to death or suffocate in the smoke or make sure it was quick and jump. Some just jumped out of panic and didn't even think about what they were doing. Some just follow the crowd as they say. There are many reasons but god had nothing to do with any of them. Start thinking for yourself. Many did not jump and many died so where was god for them.

No. They were just trying to escape all of the chaos. I don't believe that suicide was their aim. They were just freaked out. For those callers to say that, it shows that there are many part-time Christians out there. Whatever happened to "judge lest ye be judged"? There are so many hypocrites that consider themselves Christians. Christianity involves compassion (not persecuting others who don't think like you do). Those people showed none when they called in to that show with those comments. They do not know what it was like in that building (I am sure it was an inferno) for those people. Shame on those callers. They don't know what they would have done in the same situation. i am so disappointed in some of the people who call themselves Christians today. They make the rest of us look like a bunch of judgmental whackjobs. We need to pray for all of those kinds of Christians who forget the true tenets of Christianity and ask God to help them get back on the right track. I apologize for the length of my reply, the idea of someone actually saying that just upset me. Peace and many blessings.

uh thats a tough one. I don't think so I think they choose the way they were going to die and the choice was fire or sudden impact lets see blunt force trama almost instant death or long painfull burning flesh hard decision. (btw I am a youth leader at my chruch lol so I am a Christian) also I would have to bring up the fact that one person actually jumped and rode down the wreckage and lived. How amazing is that plus also if you have faith to stay inside of burning building that God will save you why couldn't you have the same faith that jumping out of the same building God would save you. I think thats a dumb answer but anyway thats my two cents for what its worth.

People must have just done that in a spur of a moment - i havnt seen pictures of that.9/11 had too many videos, photographs, i havnt seen anyone jumping .

The radio station just might have tried to make a sensation - afterall its a media run station : they rin theto make money and generate more listners.

And im not a catholic - im an indian from Mumbai.

That is such a hard question to answer. I think only God can judge that. No human would want to die like those people had to. Nobody can judge their actions. Almost anyone in that situation would do the same thing. I just get sad when I think of that day. Such hatred and all the innocent people killed.

You mean they were dead before jumping off? I don't get it! How could they talk to people on the radio in a situation like that? I wouldn't kill myself, but I must say I wouldn't be able to trust God and stay in the building when I faced that kind of situation.

No of course not. They were facing imminent death and in their confused state, jumping out of the building seemed a better choice than remaining inside. To judge their frame of thinking as being suicideal at such a time is ridiculous.

I would have jumped as well. Being burned alive is one of the worst ways to go. God will not look at it as suicide in my opinion. God will punish those 19 terrorist cowards though and I hope he gives them all a good *** kicking to before thrusting them into the pits of Hell.
