Sorry I'm completely ignorant to Christianity (hard to believe I know).
I've heard a lot of talk about people being "saved" and "salvation" and what not, but what exactly are these people being saved from?
Are they being saved from themselves?
Are they being saved from the Earth?
If they are American does that mean they are being saved from George Bush?
!!! Warning - Circular Logic !!!
Since George Bush is the representative to America and is Christian, and American Christians are being saved from him, does that mean Christians are being saved from Christianity?
Are they being saved from "Satan" which Cristianity in itself made up?
Does being part of Cristianity save you the trouble of hearing about Christianty?
Lots of questions, but of course many more. Can someone try to clarify

Wow what fast and unexplained answers!!!
Anyone want to put more than 2 seconds thought into and explination?
If I am saved from death...then why are all these people dieing?
And again...Christianity made up the concept of Hell. I don't believe in Hell. How can I be saved from something that I dont believe exists?

I'd rather not read the Bible. Which is probably why I'm asking on this website and why you are answering me rather than facedown at a library.
I've already got my own beliefs. I'm just a man of curious nature and am attempting to learn about your beliefs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt this a site to ask questions? No harm intentional.

Sounds like you have heard a few things about Christianity already. If you are saved then you are saved from your sins and from going to Hell. Mark 16:15-16 or Acts 2:38 may help explain this for you. The best way to learn for sure about Christianity is to pick up the good book (the Bible) and read it. :)
I like Hyzakyt's answer also. :)

I'll try to keep this simple and short. God created everything that is around in this universe. At the dawn of time, everything was perfect until Adam and Eve sinned. God set up a system where your sins could be forgiven with a sacrifice. well, a few thousand years after the first sin, God sent His only son to die on a cross (or in proper terms, to be crucified.) God's son, Jesus, was a perfect being without sin and there was no blame in him. Three days after being crucified, He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven, where He has, is, and will plead for us until His return. Now Christ's sacrifice was designed to wash our transgressions away for all eternity. He has saved us from our sins and from eternal torture in THE lake of fire and brimstone.(aka, Hell) All we have to do to receive this salvation is to ask God to forgive us of our sins and then lead a life that reflects that of Christ. Now was that short and simple or can I go into greater detail?

It's obvious from some of your later statements that you are not ignorant to Christianity.
"Are they being saved from "Satan" which Cristianity in itself made up?"----Obviously you belive you have enough knowledge to make a decision on what you belive and don't belive.
"And again...Christianity made up the concept of Hell. I don't believe in Hell. How can I be saved from something that I dont believe exists?"----Again you feel you have enough info to decide what is "true and what is false."
Completely ignorant hunh?
LIAR.

Actualy you are more or less being saved from yourself. God created man to have free will. He could have just gone and made us all christains and made that the end of it. But instead, he allowed us the option.
Its all explained in the booklets, and pamhlets you receive when you actualy become a christian. If your interested, and you act now, I will throw in free color tv. But wait, there's more. As a christian you will be guranteed free entry to heaven, it will only cost you 777 payments of $777.

You are saved from the eternal death that your sins demand in the presence of a holy God.
All of us have sinned-we are all sinners and therefore deserve eternal death (hell) in the eyes of a holy God (Romans 6:23).
However, on the cross Jesus paid the price for our sins so that we no longer have to die if we believe in Him and accept Him as our Savior.
You are also saved here on this earth from a lifetime of sin and continuing in sin.
So in short...
You are saved from hell.
You are saved from the penalty your sins demanded.
You are saved from a lifetime of living in sin.

A second death after the resurrection, i.e. eternal seperation from God. Try doing a Bible study - free downloads on the net - and maybe you will come to understand. But that is your choice, nobody is twisting your arm.

I am a logical thinker (therefore im not a christian *rimshot*) but I tend to believe that we seriously need to be saved from ourselves. Our minds are our worst enemy most of the time, telling us we're not good enough, think enough, rich enough, have enough friends blah blah blah and we need to get rewired. Stop listening to the bee-ess of the world, and start listening to our inner voice. Shut out that negative voice! Could it beeeeeeEEEE SAAATANNN?

Christians believe that anyone who doesn't believe in Jesus is going to hell. When you are "saved," it is from eternal damnation.
It really isn't that they believe Jesus saves people who believe in him. It's that God will punish anyone who doesn't. This gives them a sense of moral superiority which they find comforting.

To clarify you are saved if you go to heaven and your name remains the same. All who are murderers have to be recycled and get a new name and last name. By saying you believe Jesus to be your savior you will not be a murderer . Good huh!
