For, the only reasoning I've heard against stem cell research illogical. Stem cells research will lead to many improvements in the treatment of various diseases. Almost every Scientific American or Discover magazine put out in the past year shows the debate.

This is too important an issue to be broken down into a black or white situation. History has shown, repeatedly, that although Man is driven by his desire to know more, the knowledge so gained is used to either try and dominate (read rape) the environment or to dominate (again read rape) those who are weak. In fact the usefulness of new discoveries is far outweighed by the misery and suffering the same has caused. Till now, societies that benefited from the use of new technologies were isolated and insulated from the sufferings of others. This has blinded them to this reality, and consequently, I believe, we are hurtling along, ever faster, to global chaos.

Alleviation of suffering is critical. But I believe the increased incidence of incurable, pernicious and virulent diseases / medical syndromes is linked to the continued degradation of our habitat. GM crops to my mind is one of the final nails in the coffin. I believe stem cell research may be the last.

Strongly Against!

Research on stem cells? Definitely for. Real grown human lives could be much improved, where simple zygotes would be lost, some of which are in cold storage and have no chance of ever becoming people.

Progress takes sacrifice.

Caution! Reading may make you sick.I think that if the use of harvested cells can save a life or grant someone eye-sight,get up out of a wheel chair etc. Then I am for it.My sister is nurse a she told me that whenever the hospital disposes a fetus it usually goes in something like a large garbage disposal and is chewed up and then goes in the sewer.I believe that God would tell us if he was here to pro-create any way we could including this!
