Judging from your question, I suppose you're a female, right? I think it all depends on how you lost your virginity. If a woman chooses to be easy and sleeps around, she's definitely a slut. Personally I'm against sex outside wedlock, including fornication, but if a woman sleeps only with one guy, I don't think it makes her a slut. To me, a slut is a woman who sleeps around with JUST any guy. Does this answer your question?

Because those are the only two images they have in their limited concepts. Actually, there are many other ways to characterize a woman who is not a virgin. Unfortunate may be one, especially if she is very young. Loving might be another. How about priestess of the Temple of Venus? The word that was asterisked out was most likely s**t. It does not actually equate with "prostitute," but with the more archaic term "fallen woman." In other words, back in the days when men expected their brides to be virgins, this would disqualify them as suitable brides for the upper crust. But of course young servants and peasants would not be suitable brides anyway, so it was OK to rob them of their virginity, and indeed of all self-respect. That was the use of the s**t word.

A girl gets pressured into "going all the way" once, or even more than once, it does not make her a worthless and useless female. It makes her a non-virgin, but that's all. And remember that very few men expect their brides to be virgins these days. So forget what the ignorant say.

its culture...

remember the 50s n 60s where everyone seemed to be nice and neat.. couples even slept on different beds.. divorce was looked down uppon.. peoples sexual choices were secrets..

the culture has changed... half of al marriages end in divorce.. especially for ppl who marry young...

the people in the 50s 60s look at the culture today and look down upon it... some people develop the same mentality of their parents..

thats why people who have many sexual partners call other ppl sluts... plus if u like a person and found out they are not a virgin.. its kind of a bummer.. not alot but a lil bit..

this question baffled a number of women , girls and ladies in the Arab world. In the occidental side of things , perceptions differ. I have to say , that it really does not matter what your friends or "people" around you say... I mean if you lost virginity , i think it is personal and should not be a public thing and taking polls ...

it all boils down to mmmmmm How do you feel about it????

Double standards. due to objectification of women, pure women are goddesses, vestal virgins et al, but if she has the temerity to openly show her sexual habits, she is a slut, fornicator, etc, etc. read the Da Vinci code? the fall of the earth mother and the rise of the sterile patriarch where sex is a bad thing? you have the church to blame, partially, for this mess.

My advice, do your own thing , avoid these judgemental people who have nothing better to do than call other people names!

because most people are hypocrites. Just because you want to explore your sexuality doesn't make you a slut or a whore. You do what is right for you and you alone, and tell other people to keep their opinions to themselves, and live their own lives.

Why not give small-minded people all the thought they deserve: none whatsoever.

Because they're not sure how many times you've done it, or with how many men you've done it with. They just don't have the info.
