Not exactly; socialism, even though it's similar in that everybody is taken care of rather than taking care of themselves, still works on the precept that people are earning their keep; everybody does their best, everybody gets an even slice of the pie. The New Testament asserts that there's nothing we can do to earn salvation, it's a totally free gift that we can't lay claim to.

Socialism requires a powerful governement. I think Jesus was against that. So he was probably an anarchist.
