There are tons of scholarships that go unclaimed each year. Many $400, $500 or $1000 scholarships never even get applied for because people think it's chump change and not worth applying for. Well, get a few of those $500 scholarships and it'll really make a dent in your tuition bill.

People make the mistake of looking for one big scholarship to pay for everything when they should be targeting smaller scholarships that are more regionalized or specialized to their intended field or reflect something unique about them (son of Italian policeman, daughter of registered nurse, etc). Everybody goes for the big scholarships, the competition for those is much higher and your chances are smaller of getting it. Research and apply for anything and everything you are close to being eligible for no matter how small the scholarship.

Do a search on scholarships, search your major, your ethnic heritage, your town, your parents employers, your employer, hobbies, high school, local Chamber of Commerce/Rotary/ Lion's Club etc. Left-handed? There is a scholarship out there for you! Older woman returning to school? There are scholarships out there for you. Do combined searches on more than one criteria "hispanic women aviation scholarships" etc.

Go to the library and ask the reference librarian for a reference book on scholarships. They usually have more than one. There are all kinds of scholarships out there, you just have to start applying yourself and make it your summer career to send out letters everyday for scholarships. Good luck!

first of all I would advise that you re-educate your sibblings. Let them know that because you are in England doesnt mean that you are a millionaire! Then they would give you some breathing space so you can at least try and live your life without unnecessary pressure.

Then advise them to seek employment in Nigeria first before even thinking of travelling out of the country because if they do not have a habit of searching for employment no matter how low paid they will do the same in any country they 'flee' to.
Let them try to stand on their own two feet for some time while you plan how to help them out.

I dont think it would be easy for you to bring in 4 sibblings at a time into any country really so why not try applying for a visa for the eldest so that he can come and work and help with the burden of raising the rest.

No matter how you look at it, your sibblings arent children anymore. They will need to take a lot of responsibility, especially now that immigration laws are getting tougher by the hour.
Good luck.

You need to go somewhere like the Citizens Advice Bureau to start with - you will have to wait in line as it is a free service but they will have a list of other free services in the area that can give advice. Immigration lawyers are hard to find as the Government is stealthily draining their funding (cunning eh) but the CAB will be able to refer you to an advice group and should be able to find out at least where to start with your other queries.

How old are they and why can't the ones who are over aged fend for themselves in Nigeria? If they can not fend for themselves in Nigeria then what makes you think that they will be able to fend for themselves here in the West?
By the way I am also of Nigerian descent..British born to Nigerian parents.

Just what we need, another 4 people turning up,who will no doubt struggle with English, pretend to be hard working but will more than likely try to milk the welfare system as soon as they can.

Why not try to take them to another African country,or if they are not already, convert tthem to Muslims, then see if their "brother" Muslims will help them out.

Please do not try to bring them to England,we are running out of space and Charity.

You should contact immigration. They should be able to help out. If you are going to take care of them, you should get some financial help if they are under 16 or under 19 if they are going to continue with their education. Sorry I can't help you anymore.

Life is a journey neighbor. Stay in the moment. Their is never nothing that you can do. Just move forward one step at a time. If you can do that you will have been blessed. Good fortune to you and yours.
