Did your dog run away, or did it die? If it's lost, put up flyer with his picture, check with the police, and animal control. Check newspapers for found dog ads.
If your dog died you have my sympathy. Volunteer at an animal shelter, or a pet shop. You can help socialize unwanted pets, so that they can find a good home.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss ...I have two that I love dearly ..
but I have also lost beloved pets .. its crushing ( Hugs) ...

Old Dog in a Locket

Old dog in a locket
That lays next to my heart
I will always love you
As I did right from the start.

You were right beside me
Through the darkest of my days
It was your kind and gentle nature
That made me want to stay.

Now I hold you in my arms
Your breath still warm against my hand
Our hearts still beat together
And I wonder if you understand.

Through the hours that I held you
Before the light did leave your soul
I knew a way to keep you
Forever in my hold.

I snipped the hair from around your eyes
So I would always see
The beauty that surrounds me
Even in times of need.

I snipped the hair from around your ears
So I would always hear
Music in the distance
To quiet any fears.

I snipped the hair from across your back
To bring me strength in time of need
And that the power of your essence
Would always be with me.

I snipped the hair from around your heart
That beat in time with mine
So love would know to find me
At some other distant time.

And so, your life slipped out of mine
On a quiet spring like day
But I knew that a part of you
Was always here to stay.

Old dog in a locket
That lays next to my heart
I will always love you
Even though we had to part.

allow yourself to grieve the loss of a pet is very hard ...perhaps you could look at adopting a pup from a shelter - no one can ever replace your dog but you could save another doggy life and have a companion to share your love

Losing a pet can be a very difficult issue to cope with. Try to find support amongst your family and friends. I also recommend reading the article "Coping with the Death of Your Pet" at http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/coping_with_the_death_of_your_pet/ - g^2

REALLY SORRY TO HEAR THIS. JUST TRY TO REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES YOU HAD AND IT WILL GET EASIER. IF YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES OR REMINDERS THIS WILL HELP TOO. KEEP THEM SAFE.
