That usually happens when you dye your hair at home. For a longer lasting result, it's best to have it professionally done. It also depends on your hair thickness -- the thicker your hair, the less the color pigment penetrates the strands of your hair -- and whether you're frequently coloring your hair -- the more porous your hair is from previous colorong, the more readily it loses the color pigments. If you have dark hair which you're trying to color lighter, it also causes your color not to last that long. A professional hairstylist can help you with this. He/she can determine whether your hair needs to be bleached prior to the actual hair coloring, how long the dye can sit on your hair safely, and so n. Unfortunately your hair color won't stay in your hair for 6-7 months. After 3-4 months you'll be having obvious roots which you need to re-dye anyway. Good luck!

My guess is that your hair has been overprocessed and just can't hold the color. There are professional products called "fillers" that will help solve your problem. However, I don't believe ANY color will last as long as you want. You will need to re-touch growth areas, and then for the last 3 - 5 minutes of the waiting time, carry the color out to the ends of your hair to even the color.
Good luck

If you are trying to go darker then you need to put double the dosage. This means start at the front of your hair and go down to the neck area. Wait approx time. 15 before you wash it out put a second coat on repeating this step above. 5 minutes before you wash it out you need to comb it through to the ends. Usually colors with a red tint (although say Perm) are not permanent. I dunno why.

I have that problem too. I recently tried to dye my hair to get rid of the highlites and they were back within a few months. Sorry to tell you, but you'll probably need to get your hair dyed professionally. Just make sure you tell the colorist that your hair doesn't hold color well, so she can leave it on longer.

I agree with the person that suggested John Frieda products. They help to lock in the color. I also use the Pantiene Products that are specially formulated for colored hair.

It depends what color you're dyeing your hair. If it's close to your natural hair color, you shouldn't have a problem disguising your roots. The products I love to use are John Freida's colored-products. I used the dark brown, which is currently my hair color and it's close to my natural color, and it works like a charm. It leaves it smelling great and it comes in several colors so you can choose the one closer to your hair color.

Get it professionally done that way you don't over process your hair. Over the counter colors are just that.
Make sure your not washing your hair for at least 48 hrs. Remember you get what you pay for.

make sure you use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. Also, if you have it profeesionaly done, it will save money in the long run, since you will have to pay for it less often.

Go to salon to fix it and from now on do not color your hair yourself. Maybe the color is from fantasy range like flashing red/ dark blue or what?
