I heard that to keep the green card valid you must not leave the US for more than one year, is it true?
Also any information about how to apply for citizenship but live in another country for a while? Cause I work already in another country and I'm having a good salary that I'm afraid to lose if I left and started to search again in US yet I need to have the passport cause most of my family have it already and I want to later work in US as a citizen. Any accurate info please?
Someone told me that I can apply for the passport and will get it in 3 years if I didn't leave US for more than 6 months, is it true?

If you leave the US for more than 365 days and did not apply in advance for, and receive, a re-entry permit, your green card is no longer valid and you are no longer a US permanent resident.

You cannot apply for US citizenship while living in another country.

The thing that 'someone' told you is erroneous. Applying for US citizenship - not just a passport - is a complex process. Stop asking around among people you know for information that is so important. Go to the folks who really know: USCIS
