Now that my 2 month old kitten has worms (look like white rice) how do I protect my other kitten and dogs from getting it if they haven't already?

I cleaned the house floor with Clorox germ killer...

Threw out all the kitten food, water and litter....

Put a flea collar on the infected kitten (is this ok even though instruction says kitten has to be at least 3 months old?)....

Put flea collars on my dogs....

What else must I do to try and protect my other pets? Do I have to make sure they don't share the same food, water and litter? If they do they get infected?

And how do I know if I got worms from him too? He scratched me few days ago will that pass along the worms? How do I get rid of it if I have it????????????

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your kitten has tapeworms...which they get by ingesting a flea..so you now have to treat her for worms and make sure your house and pets are flea free. Your kitten cannot pass the worms to your other pets (unless they eat her poop and ingest the tapeworms eggs) BUT they can get infected from from swallowing a flea, and the kitten can re-infect itself if there are still fleas around. For the worms...you can take her to the vet to get either an injection or a pill, and then you usually have to repeat the dose again in a month. While there you can get some flea product as well...I suggest Advantage..works quickly. Good Luck.

There is a generic version of Droncit, that is what vets use for tapeworm. Other wormers will not kill tape. It is called Praziquantel. Most larger pet stores carry this now. I got mine from www.jefferspet.com
This is cause by the kitten eating a flea that was infected so get something for the fleas too.

That's all good doing, but you need to take her to the vet and they will give her a shot. If you don't she will die. And keep her in a box separate from the other animals. Or you can go to Wal-mart and get a worm free medicine to put into their food.

or u can b cheap and worm all the lil critters in one whack- go to walmart buy the de-wormer there, it's the same stuff as the vets they say, cleaned mine right up. The puppy wormer worked on my kitten, go by her weight.

If you can't get him to the vet, get worm medicine. It's not too expensive; try 1800PetMeds.
