1. Deforestation
In addition to the Oxygen cycle, this can cause topsoil runoff and hasten polution of water tables.
2. Industrial Waste
Most companies do the minimum ammount of containment of their waste products. In my own community, I know of one runoff pipe that empties directly into the local woodland waterway.
3. Urban Overpopulation
Too many people in even smaller cities can overburden local water supplies, sewage systems, landfills, and local power suppliers.
4. Invasive Species
When an new plant or animal enters an area and disrupts the existing ecosystem, it opens the door to new problems. In Wisconsin, Zebra Mussels have created an algae problem in our lakes, by disrupting local plankton.
5. Inconsistent Regulation
The root of NAFTA speaks to comanies being able to move to other places where labor is cheaper, but also where environmental regulations are looser, allowing more polution.

1. Large corporations not caring about the environment and only thinking about making a profit. 2. Average people either not carrying about the environment or thinking whatever they do they can't help it. 3. The use of fossil fuels which create admissions that pollute the air and create problems such as acid rain. 4. Over urbanization destroys habitats, creates rapid water run off, contaminates water and soil, etc. 5. Other environmentally damaging practices such as strip mining, not treating sewage enough, using pesticides and fertilizer, and the mass production of live stock. All deplete or contaminate water and destroy environments, especially aquatic ones.
