We dont know if it is true. For all we know it could have been changed so much that it looked totally different from the original. I over heard my very religious grandparents talking about how the bible says you should give some of your earnings to the church.....WTF...Can't you see something is wrong?

Giving money to the church is one of the most common practises. Tithing is giving back to God some of what he gives to us. Of course, it is not literally given to God himself but to the church so they can continue its work.

And yes, I do believe the Bible in its entirety. Of course, there are a few places where it is more figurative than literal however it is all true. It is necessarry to note that most of the Old Testemant laws are no longer in effect.

The Bible is a work of fiction based on some historical events and personalities. The Bible was compiled 400 years after Christ's death by a group of MEN. Humans. Who were, by the way, brought together by Emperor Constantine of Rome because he was sick of them having street fights and murders over their different versions of "Christianity." The men who got together to decide which books should and should not be in the Bible threw out many documents that Christians were using, such as the Gospel of Mary Magdalene and the Gospel of Thomas, and rewrote the rest. The Bible has been rewritten many times, and many things have been written into the Bible over the years.

We do NOT have the original manuscripts of the Bible. There are NONE. They do NOT exist. We only have copies of copies of copies, and not all of those are well translated.

If God owns everything then why does he need my money?

actually more copies of biblical text have been found to confirm the authenticity of the bible than any other book or historic document. You just don't hear about that in a lot of our media.
Now there have been errors in translations or copying. But it is because we have so many good examples of the scriptures that we can find the accurate meaning. Again all you ever hear about is the controversy. You never hear about the verification.

As for giving money to the church, Yep, but it also says you should do it with a cheerful heart. When you come to the understanding that all that you have comes from God it's not a big deal. If your not there yet, it's because you don't have a solid understanding of our relationship to God

Nothing is wrong with giving some of your earnings. In my houshold we do to cover the cost of electricity etc. in the building we congregate in.
As for whether it is true, I think it is all true. Some people just dont understand some of the things it says. After all it was originally written in a different language so when translated it sounds a bit funny. There is also lot of figurative speech in the bible so sometimes it is hard to make sense of.

Yes most definitely it is true, God has given us his word the Bible and has made sure it wouldn't be destroyed, many have tried to destroy the Bible but it is still here today, what you overheard your Grandparents talking about, Yes I do see something wrong there, but not in the bible, rather with people they do the wrong things! The Bible has been compared with earlier texts that were found and they were not different but checked out!

I agree. I mean, how old is the Bible? too old for us to believe that everything in there is fact. it's changed too many hands and when that happens the truth gets blurred. as for tithe, I don't get that either, the pastor needs to get a job on the side because I am not paying his car note. I'm sure God doesn't need or want that money.

Yes, churches grow on trees. Didn't you know that? Supporting missionaries in other countries does not cost any money.

The Bible commands 10%, a "tithe". Yes, it's all a conspiracy. Preachers are in it strictly for the $$ aren't they.

You need Jesus my friend. When you have Jesus you cannot afford to miss out on all the blessings by not giving 10%.

Yes, and God is a He. The "Father". The Bible does say to bring ye tithes into the storehouse, tithe meaning 10% of your income, storehouse meaning your home church. Malachai 3:10
