Jesus was human. I believe he wasn't thrilled about knowing he was going to have to go through with the pain he endured. But he knew that was the only way. That is what the Father had sent him to do.

It's an interesting point: If Jesus knew what was coming, then why did he even care about what he did?

From a theological standpoint, the sacrifice wasn't a physical one, the act of dying was a sacrifice on the spiritual plane in which Christ took on all of the world's sins, and created a bridge between heaven and earth by which people could be "saved."

The crucifixion was a sacrifice because Jesus didn't have to come to earth in the first place, yet he did.

Also, the physical pain he endured was no less intense just because he knew that he had heaven to look forward to.

Crucifixion is a tremendous sacrifice. Only the worst of the criminals got crucified. This alone would make someone balk at the idea of being nailed to a cross.

The details of a crucifixion are horrible to read. To support one's weight, it is most likely that the nails were driven through the wrists of the person and then death could take days. To make it even more painful, the nails were put through the palms. According to Wiki, "If death did not come from asphyxiation, it could result from a number of other causes, including physical shock caused by the scourging that preceded the crucifixion, and the nailing itself, dehydration, and exhaustion." Sometimes they would break the person's legs to make death come faster.

To fully answer this question, you have look at yourself. If you are Chrisitian, are you refraining from sinning because you want to get to heaven? If you are, then Is it really a sacrifice to do good on this earth if you know that you will get rewarded? Aren't you being selfish? I think the answer is no. You know that inside being a good person and following the rules of your faith are the right thing to do. Jesus promised eternal life and salvation, not heaven as most Christian's view it today. He died knowing that he would come back to life.

No, not at all, good point. An above answer says: "the physical pain he endured was no less intense just because he knew that he had heaven to look forward to." That's incorrect. It's believed that pain is much more intense to animals because unlike humans, they don't know when the pain is going to stop. Jesus knew everything which means he knew the second the pain was going to end, and that's if you believe he was in pain at all! Jesus was god right? or the son of god? or something like that? How do we know God wasn't filling Jesus's veins with morphine? How do we know Jesus didn't temporarily turn his pain receptors off? How do we know he felt pain in first place? How do we know it wasn't just an act? The story of Christ's death has more holes than Swiss cheese. They don't it the "Holey Bible" for fun. Don't get me started on Noah's Ark!

Yes because He didnot have to go through the crucifixion , He was already in heaven, but He chose to come here and sacrifice Himself so we would have heaven to look forward to.

Well ask yourself this question, even though u (if u believe in Jesus) and if you believe you are going to heaven, would you subject yourself to ridicule and Crucifixion to save a world full of sinners who would never be worthy of your glory? I think it was a major sacrifice. He was sent here as a man to teach. He had feelings, we know he felt pain, sadness, anger and joy. So yes, it was a HUGE sacrifice.

Jesus had heaven to look forward to, sure... but he still had a mortal body... complete with nerve endings... pain is pain and nobody likes it...

This is very likely the reason Jesus, when he was in the garden of Gethsemene, prayed "Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." In today's language we might say it like this "Father, if we can find another way to do this, I'd be all for it, but I'll do it your way, not mine"

In his physical form, Jesus did not like pain or discomfort any more than any of us do... but he went through it... for us.

WEll, we all have heaven to look forward to but still fear death. He was human, and probably had the same fear. And crucifixion must of hurt a hell of a lot.

Get this right; God made the sacrifice, Jesus was the sacrifice. God was able, Jesus was willing. It was a human sacrifice, made by God. The last one...

I am very sure Jesus with stood more pain than any one but a God could. It also would have been very hard to not sin in your thoughts about those who nailed him up, yet he still asked the father to forgive them for they know not what they do. his job was not done until he gave his life to the father.
