When and where was this? How much was the fine? What type of fireworks were you using? If you are a cop, tell me what you do if you patrolling an area where they are illegal.

Well I'm in California, and as a police officer I have stopped and cited individuals for possessing illegal fireworks. There are some here that are legal and some that are not. The "Safe and Sane" type of fireworks are legal in our area - but not all areas its a city \ county item and some allow them and some don't. But to my knowledge no city, county or our state allows other types of fireworks - those are the ones we confiscate and cite owners for. The penalties are generally about $100 to $200 in fines and the crime is an infraction here - not a misdemeanor. Illegal fireworks are M80 types, anything that flies like bottle rockets, and the like.
