Peace.

Brain-dead people are never truly gone. There brain still stores the information that they held during life, they just cannot access it like we can. Liken it to a computer tower that has no monitor.
Philosophically, brain-dead people cannot cease to exist if there is someone there to remember them. The dead do not cease to exist because their bodies are buried underground and people can go visit their corpses. They didn't vanish. They just left. Whether you believe in an afterlife is a whole separate issue. Brain-dead people, by the same argument, are not gone. They are lost.
I recently saw a television program on ABC where a man "woke up" from a 20 year coma. They had thought he was in an almost vegetative state. His brain rewired itself and he just woke up one day. He lost the years, but he came back. While this won't happen in many cases, it just goes to show that the information is still there, but locked away.

That's a trick question, in a sense. The debate that follows the quote is wheather or not anyone actually exsists other than ourselves, because i have no way of proving you exsist. I think therefore I am, but I could be thinking you up since i can't read your mind. So one thought could be that a brain dead person never exsisted at all because it is not me. But you can ask me if i ever go brain-dead.

Just because people are in a coma doesn't mean that their spirit can't hear and know what is going on around them. The body dies when the spirit of that person leaves the body. Nobody ever ceases to exist. When you die physically, you just lay down the body -- the spirit of a person lives forever -- either in Heaven or Hell.

It isn't that simple. "brain dead" is a clinical diagnosis. There are cases where someone was declared brain dead and later recovered. What we think of as human existence relates to consciousness mostly, and it isn't straightforward to define what it means to be a person.
We typically think of people as those who seem to some degree like ourselves.

To them their world has ceased to exist.
You think too much. Turn off the computer and do something fun.
