All 3 manipulated their followers into surrendering all of their posessions, all 3 built communes, all 3 built armies against the American government, all 3 went crazy sexually on their followers, all 3 died violently when the government tried to rein them in!

There are no difference between the three men. They were all mental ill and manipulative and unfortunately harmed many people.

I am glad the three of them were recognized as danger by the government, and I have no sympathy for their deaths, but it is sad that innocent and naively trusting people died along with them.

It is similar to that game on Sesame Street. Which one of these is not like the other?

I am not a Mormon, but Joseph Smith is not quite the same as Koresh or Jones. He may have been a nut, but he was a different type of nut.

1. Joseph didn't claim to be Jesus like the other two.
2. Smith was killed by a mob not government action.
3. The Mormons were not exactly a threat before reaching and developing Utah.
4. Koresh and Jones were suicidal.

Yes! The Mormon Church is still alive and doing well and continues to thrive everyday. The LDS Church was also never a branch off of a larger denomination like David Koresh's. I believe Koresh broke away from the Seventh Day Adventist church? And Joseph Smith wasn't killed by the government, he was killed by a mob of men in Missouri. Joseph Smith and his followers built a city not a commune. Further, the city of Nauvoo was quite wealthy. Don't you think if Joseph Smith was "forcing" his followers to surrender all that they had, then they wouldn't have prospered as much as they did? Get your facts straight. You will sound more intelligent.

I don't think Joseph Smith belongs in the same category as Jim Jones or David Koresh for two reasons:

1) Jim Jones and David Koresh committed suicide; Joseph Smith was killed by a mob.

2) Jim Jones and David Koresh deliberately caused some of their followers to die with them; Joseph Smith did not.
