Love is never supposed to hurt, if it does, it isn't true love. True love is mutual caring between two committed people. Love can only hurt if only one person loves and the other doesn't. People who truly love one another NEVER hurt each other. They respect and support one another. They are emotionally mature and don't play games. They never utter words in anger. They never try to hurt their partners emotionally, spiritually, physically, or financially. They don't play games. Each person in the relationship first and foremost respects themselves. You have to be a whole person yourself before you can love another. All pain and suffering comes from our selfish desires. You can only love another when you have enough self respect and self-love that you are completely full and able to spill that excess positive energy into the other person. It's like you have more than enough love to fill a glass and so you can fill theirs as well. If your spirit is full of "holes" and needs, then you have nothing to give. First, each of you has to perfect yourself as an individual and then each of you can give love to the other. If it hurts, it's not love.

love is not a perfect science. you have your good times and you have your bad times. remember it takes two to be in love, and trying to get two minds on the same page is a big task. make sure the love you give is the love you get. if not it may not be worth sticking around. you'll never find the answer to your question because life treats us all differently and everybody loves differently or shows it differently. its just something that you take one day at a time. good luck

Love has such a great upside and anything that goes up.......Love requires a lot of work therefore when it doesn't work it can be draining.....but true love is a two-way street....if you were the only one giving then it wasn't true love. So pick yourself up and move on.......fall down 7 times get up 8!

Because it takes a part of your heart to love. It only hurts when you don't get it back.

I think it only really hurts when it's mixed with a lot of passion, and I personally wouldn't want it any other way.
