Sure. But the texture probably won't be quite as nice. It should work fine for most quick breads, muffins, pancakes, etc.

Eliminate the salt and baking powder and/or baking soda.

Decrease the amount of flour by 1/8 (2 Tablespoons per cup) - pastry flour is less dense, lighter, per cup.
To figure this, multiply the number of cups by 16 to get the total number of tablespoons.
Divide this number by 8.
Subtract this number from the total number of tablespoons.
Divide this number by 16 to get back to the number of cups.

Self rising flour contains baking powder and salt. That's why it is called "self rising".

you have to eliminate the baking powder in the recipe if you are using self rising flour.
