That is anti-theism, which has naught to do with atheism.
An anti-theist, such as the repressive regime in North Korea, seeks to destroy religion because religion is viewed as a competitor to their ideology. Strangely, that's how the religious view other religions, and they attempt to do the same things....
Talk to atheists. Despite our dislike for religion, you will find for the most part that atheists respect the _right_ of the religious to have religion. What we oppose is the attempt of the religious to impose their beliefs on others. Preventing people from proselytizing or enacting laws based on religion IS NOT the same as oppressing religion.
If you disagree, then what would be your reaction to a law in Indonesia which mandated that non-muslims must leave the country or convert? It is a law based on religion, which you said you think is acceptable. Will you agree with the law, or be a hypocrite?
Or, will you do the right thing and say that no religion should dominate and dictate in ANY country, INCLUDING *yours*?
In case you didn't pick up on it, the imposition of religion BY the religious IS anti-theism. In other words, Americans who want laws based on religion are as hateful and bigoted towards others as are Kim Jong Il or the Taliban.

It depends upon the ideology you were trying to sell them. Someone who didn't believe in any religion at all would be considered an atheist. There's nothing ethically or morally wrong with an atheist - they are some of the finest, most upstanding and virtuous people you'll ever meet. They do the right thing because it is the right thing to do - not because they know that God is watching or because they will go to Hell if they do the wrong thing.
People who are still challenging the idea that there is a God, but who haven't totally ruled out the possibility are agnostics. They are the ones who change their minds in foxholes.
But someone could also be against the particular brand of ideology you were talking about - that would be an "anti-christian" or an "anti-semite" or whatever you were talking about.

Probably anti-theists. Atheists aren't necessarily anti-theism. Agnostics are probably capable of being the smartest of all. Theists are pretty much all anti-atheist.
I also must add I believe people who see religion as a negative thing in the world are probably well-read, open-minded, creative, compassionate, giving, understanding, perceptive, and explorative.
After all, theists have had a hand in hundreds of wars responsible for the deaths of billions of people in history. The only thing atheists want is for theism to stop being so destructive and hateful.

i fairly does not remember on only atheist books. although Dawkins and Mahr make reliable factors, it may likely also be valid to apply some historic texts that help to describe the heritage of those religions. Karen Armstrong, (although many circumstances imprecise), has some books the position attempting to assert why faith is reliable for human beings, does bypass about very subtly explaining the synthetic heritage of all the numerous religions. it may also do somewhat reliable to focus on previous religions to boot, and their outcomes on the international. although we imagine of them as mythologies, they were very difficulty-free and extremely effectual religions in the previous, and extremely a lot believed by using the persons. reliable success :D

Fatal flaw, my insinuating friend, because prejudice has nothing to do with it. Careful and educated critical thinking has led concerned people of all types to atheism. Atheism is against racism, sexism, and social elitism by definition. Religious fantasies perpetuate bad stuff like this.
