A competant, qualified, and experienced nurse can do many essential and wondrous things, (services).
1) she can bring the prescribed anti-hypertansion medication in the right format and dosage that is prescribed for you.
2) she can stand by and make sure that you take the said medication, or initiate suitable sanctions should you refuse to take same. (celebrated & award winning Nurse Diesel R.N.at New York's Bellevoo Hospital & Assyum is reknowned for her skill in this delicate task.), (also Nurse Ilsa Shewoolf of the Schutzstaffel was equally so skilled.).
3) Said nurse can usually spot the wrong medicine or dosage before it is forced upon you.
4) Where required (and believe you me, it is rare), these angels of mercy, of the medical profession, can have you suitably restrained should the Doktor prescribe bed rest. Indeed the infamous Nurse Imelda Magasayso, once was forced to use chains and leather straps to subdue one supremely unco-operative patient. Until the Hospital came to realise that the "patient" was really the visiting brother of the real hypertensive sufferer who had made his successful escape from the "High Blood Pressure Afflicted Patients ward", not ten minutes before her heroic struggle. It was an unfortunate case of mistaken identity.5)Said hypertension nurse-specialist may be asked to instruct leaving patients in the skills of living with this trying medical affliction and the required lifestyle changes that progressive, caring hospitals insist upon. Preferably with a minimum of dire threats, and post-incarceration visits by disciplinary specialists.
6) Numerous other helpful services too vast to list here.My book on the subject will be published in the near future.
Stay tuned for the arrival of my thrilling medical saga and practical help book.

the nurse should have parameters set by the pt's doc - ex. - take b/p daily - hold , or give meds if sbp is < or > than a set number - I would think this is something they would cover in nursing school
