so it's not so heavy? maybe the word is more liquidy?

Sure, add more milk. It'll make it more creamy. Also, a bit more butter makes them taste better too!

Sure! If you add a little extra milk, that will loosen the potatoes. But be sure not to add too much milk or you'll end up with running watery potatoes. Just add a little bit at a time. Do this gradually until you have the texture you want. You can also add a little extra butter. If you really are watching fat or calories, you could add a bit of extra water, but it won't be as flavorful.

Try a dab of sour cream. Prepare as usual, and then add a dollop of sour cream to help ease the consistency a bit.

I personally make homemade mashed potatoes, but if you would like to know a little secret that I put into mine, I use milnot in place of the milk. but you can try to add just a little milnot with your instant ones. also...
and just a dab of mayo. you can't believe how great that they taste!!!
I always make them for special holidays, and everyone goes nuts for them.

I love potato buds. My fav brand of instant potatoes. I usually add a little more of each: milk, butter, and buds. Sometimes after they are all mixed together, I will add some sour cream, it tends to give it a creamier texture. Sometimes a little extra butter will do the trick.

maybe u r just putting to many 'buds" in the pot.....also don't stir them too much....makes em sticky/heavy.
