I got two different answers here: 2 and 7. Here's why nobody knows for sure. Genesis chapter six has God commanding Noah to take "two" of every type of bird on the ark with him. We all learned it in Sunday school, right? Genesis chapter seven, however, has God commanding Noah to take "seven" of every type of bird on the ark with him. A contradiction? Absolutely! In fact, two separate stories which were cut apart and meshed together. Don't believe me? Research it. A good book would be "Who Wrote the Bible?"

He did not take any daggone birds on that Ark. Your question is funny though- I like it. Also, try to pull a two-fer and ask what kind of bandage god put on adam after he took out a rib. >;)

Two of each breed of birds; being one female and the other male. So by doing this they could still breed more bird of that type of bird.

Last time that I heard it was two of each animal- so I would assume that it was two of this bird and two of that bird since every species is different. Makes since to me.

Well he took more than two of some animals. So that is a little confusing to me--b/c when I was young I was told two of everything--but that was not true.
